According to the Can Tho City Employment Service Center, in the first 6 months of 2026, the city had 1,883 workers working abroad under contract. The demand for workers continues to increase, especially in the markets of Japan, Korea, Taiwan (China) and the Russian Federation.
However, along with the increasing demand, many unofficial advertising information and illegal brokerage forms have also appeared, posing a risk of causing damage to workers.
At the Livestream with the theme "Job opportunities abroad - Safety from choice", organized by the Can Tho City Employment Service Center, Mr. Nguyen Manh Phi - specialist of the Labor Market Department, Can Tho City Employment Service Center - recommended that workers should proactively find information from competent agencies and units before registering to participate in the program to work abroad.
Workers should not transact through intermediary organizations and individuals to avoid incurring unreasonable costs. Instead, they should register at public non-business units such as the Can Tho City Employment Service Center or enterprises licensed by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Workers need to be especially wary of advertisements on social networks such as'light job, high salary','100% coverage'... These are potentially risky information," Mr. Phi noted.
He also said that all expenses in the process of procedures must be public, transparent, in accordance with the law and have valid invoices and documents.
Before signing a contract and paying money, workers need to carefully understand the contents of the basic salary, working hours, expenses, living and living conditions, insurance regimes as well as legitimate rights in the receiving country.
In addition to recommending fraud prevention, the unit also introduces non-profit programs implemented by the Center for Overseas Labor (Ministry of Home Affairs).
According to Mr. Nguyen Manh Phi, these programs are implemented on the basis of official cooperation agreements and programs between the Government of Vietnam and the labor receiving country. The selection process is public and transparent and workers do not have to pay service fees to the Overseas Labor Center.
The entire cost of participation is clearly notified, not through intermediaries. Depending on the program, workers are also supported with foreign language training, orientation education, visa procedures, air tickets or some other expenses.
Before leaving the country, workers are provided with full information about the job, salary level, working conditions, deductions and benefits under the contract. After completing the contract and returning home on time, workers are also supported with job introductions in the country," Mr. Phi said.
Can Tho City Employment Service Center said that accessing information from competent agencies and units and selecting programs that are implemented in accordance with regulations will help workers limit risks and ensure their rights when participating in working abroad under contracts.
According to a report by the Department of Overseas Labor Management (Ministry of Home Affairs), in the first 6 months of 2026, the total number of Vietnamese workers going to work abroad reached 66,311 workers, reaching 59.2% of the annual plan (2026, the plan to send Vietnamese workers to work abroad under contract is 112,000 workers).
