Achieved and exceeded 13/14 targets
According to Ms. Nguyen Hoang Bao Tran - Permanent Vice President of Binh Duong Provincial Federation of Labor, in 2024, all levels of trade unions in the province achieved and exceeded 13/14 targets assigned by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. In particular, the Provincial Federation of Labor proposed and was supported by the People's Committee of Binh Duong province with 44,400 gifts with a total amount of 44 billion VND to visit and give gifts to workers in especially difficult circumstances who cannot return home to celebrate Tet 2024. Trade unions at all levels took care of union members and workers on the occasion of the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin in 2024 with a total amount of nearly 302 billion VND (of which more than 21 billion VND was mobilized from social sources). Nearly 800,000 workers in difficult circumstances received support.
During the Workers' Month, the Provincial Federation of Labor organized activities to care for and advise provincial leaders to visit and give gifts to disadvantaged workers in the locality with a total amount of more than 17.3 billion VND. The fund to support workers in difficult circumstances has been maintained and has so far supported 1,286 cases, each case receiving support from 4-10 million VND.
Mr. Bui Thanh Nhan - Head of the Mass Mobilization Committee of Binh Duong province assessed that the work of caring for union members and workers in the province in recent times has left a clear mark through detailed policies and plans. In particular, the "Fund to support workers in especially difficult circumstances" has actively supported workers to overcome adversity.
This approach is highly humane. At the same time, the mobilization of resources to present the “Union Shelter” has demonstrated the profound humanity and timely cooperation of the Trade Union organization with sectors and levels in ensuring social security in the province, creating more influence to spread the image of the Vietnam Trade Union organization in the business community and workers.
Efforts to ensure that all workers receive Tet bonuses
The Binh Duong Provincial Federation of Labor said that it is forecasted that this year, about 500,000 workers far from home will stay in Binh Duong to celebrate Tet. Currently, all levels of labor unions in Binh Duong are making efforts to implement activities to care for union members in difficult circumstances during Tet. The motto is "All union members and workers have Tet".
The Standing Committee of the Provincial Federation of Labor requested that trade unions at all levels, especially at the grassroots level, proactively negotiate and propose that employers fully implement the wage regime according to the contract for employees, and at the same time, have policies and organize activities to show gratitude and thank employees.
On the part of the Trade Union, the budget for taking care of union members and workers during Tet this year is about 272.4 billion VND. Of this amount, the provincial trade union alone will support about 90,000-100,000 workers. Each gift is worth 1 million VND, including 700,000 VND in cash and 300,000 VND in necessities.
The Binh Duong Provincial Federation of Labor also organized activities such as "Tet Sum Vay, Tet Trade Union Market". Supported train tickets, bus tickets and plane tickets for union members and workers in difficult circumstances and those who have not been able to return home for Tet for many years. Of which, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor supported 450 round-trip train tickets, 103 plane tickets; the Binh Duong Provincial Federation of Labor supported 1,000 train tickets, nearly 2,000 bus tickets. Currently, the grassroots unions have completed the review and made a list of union members and workers in difficult circumstances who have not been able to return home for many years to present.
Ms. Nguyen Hoang Bao Tran - Permanent Vice President of Binh Duong Provincial Labor Federation said that the ship will take workers home for Tet on January 23-25, 2025 (December 24-26 of the Lunar calendar). After Tet, workers will be welcomed back to Binh Duong. All activities of Binh Duong Provincial Labor Union help workers have a happy and fulfilling Tet. After Tet, workers will return, stabilizing the labor force for production enterprises after Tet.
