According to the report of the Ministry of Health, in the first 6 months of 2025, the whole country recorded nearly 23,000 cases of dengue fever, including 5 deaths in the localities: Binh Duong, Binh Thuan, Ho Chi Minh City, Khanh Hoa and Ninh Thuan.
In Hanoi, according to the Center for Disease Control (CDC Hanoi), in just the week from June 16 to June 22, the city recorded 15 cases of dengue fever - a slight increase compared to the previous week (11 cases).
Faced with the complicated developments of the epidemic, many workers living in boarding houses cannot help but worry. Ms. Truong Thi Lan - a garment worker in Hanoi - renting a room in My Dinh 2 ward, shared: "Recently, erratic weather, continuous sunshine have caused many mosquitoes and insects to appear. Some days, heavy rain caused the boarding house to be flooded, and garbage also flooded into the room. However, due to limited finances, I could only rent this place to stay temporarily. Hearing the news of an increase in dengue fever cases, I was very worried."
Actual records show that many boarding houses located near fields, canals, and garbage are thrown haphazardly, posing a high risk of epidemics.

In a similar situation, Mr. Ly Van Son (from Cao Bang) living in a temporary hut in Cau Giay, Hanoi, who works as a fabric classifier and blanket weaver, said: "The area where I live has many trees with overcast forest, especially in the late afternoon, there are many mosquitoes. While sleeping, I had a skin disease but was still bitten by mosquitoes. I was very worried about the epidemic, but because of work and finances, I could not move to another place, so I had to find a way to prevent it myself".

"The weather is changing seasons, hot sunshine mixed with rain makes the humidity increase. The unsanitary living environment has many mosquitoes. Even though I fell asleep, I was still bitten by mosquitoes. I am also very worried about the epidemic but I can't quit my job, quit my goods to move to another place, I have to take care of myself" - Mr. Son said.
Also living in a low-cost house in Cau Giay, Ms. Phan Thi Bang proactively prevented it by spraying mosquito pills into the corners of the room and collecting water containers because this is where the hyena often lay eggs.
"I have lived in a boarding house for more than 5 years, and there are many mosquitoes. Before going to work, I often spray medicine in the corners of the room, clean the house to limit mosquitoes and insects from breeding," Ms. Bang shared.

Although it has not yet entered the peak of the rainy season, many localities have recorded signs of dengue fever outbreak. Therefore, people need to proactively prevent mosquito bites, mosquito larvae, keep their home hygienic, flip water containers and always sleep under tarpaulins to avoid mosquito bites.
