Hope the Law will soon come into life
Mr. Hoang Quang Binh is currently a worker at Canon Electronics Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Lac Hong commune, Van Lam district, Hung Yen).
Mr. Binh was born in 1992, from Ham Yen district, Tuyen Quang province. He has been working in Pho Noi Industrial Park for 7 years. During his first 4 years as a single mother, Mr. Binh often rented a room with a fellow countryman or a colleague working at the same company. For the past 3 years, Mr. Binh has been married to his wife from Van Chan district, Yen Bai province.
"We have been married for 3 years but thinking about the cramped rental situation, we did not dare to have children. We dream of renting a social housing unit to have more space, have an additional room so that if we have children, relatives can come and take care of us and have a place to live. With the current conditions, we decided that if my wife had children, we would go back to our hometown and quit our jobs immediately, there was no other way, Mr. Binh shared.
In the same boarding house as Mr. Binh, the family of Ms. Le Thi Toan (born in 1988) from Moc Chau district (Son La) has been working as workers in Pho Noi Industrial Park for 4 years now. There are 4 members in the family, 3 of whom work as workers, including Ms. Toan, her husband and the eldest son. The youngest child is in grade 9.
Currently, Ms. Toan's whole family only rents a 18m2 room, with cramped and stuffy living conditions.
"I put a bed, a mattress close to each other. 2 sons sleeping on the bed, my parents lying on the ground. The summer was so hot, I left the mattress, only spreading the mat.
Talking to reporters, Ms. Toan also dreams of renting a social housing unit at a reasonable price to improve living conditions, and the 3 people working also ensure health after hard working hours in the factory.
"I was informed by the union officials about the 2024 Trade Union Law, I just hope that the Law will soon come into life, and the rights of union members and workers will be increased," Ms. Toan expressed.
