"In addition to the rental support, the company also supports childcare, travel expenses... The rental area is installed with free wifi by the union, helping us reduce the burden of rental and monthly living expenses to have small savings and feel secure in sticking with it" - Ms. Dinh shared.

Workers want to access social housing
After the merger, Hai Phong has 27 industrial parks in operation with about 50,000 workers. Among them, many workers are from other provinces and have to rent houses in residential areas. Although housing for workers is currently of interest, it has not kept up with the increase in the workforce...
The need for housing support, access to social housing, and low-cost housing for workers is very high. Meanwhile, in Hai Phong, there are only a few enterprises in industrial parks investing in dormitories for employees. It is worth mentioning that LG Display Company has a dormitory that can accommodate about 3,000 employees. Recently, the housing area for workers of Pegatron Vietnam Co., Ltd. is the second project assigned by the city to lease land to invest in building dormitories for workers. Phase 1 of the project has been completed and put into use 4 buildings for workers, 2 buildings for staff and 1 utility building with full modern functional rooms, accommodating about 4,000 people.
Thereby, it helps workers not have to travel far or rent accommodation in places that do not ensure living conditions, helping the company not have to arrange vehicles to pick up and drop off workers, saving time and costs. This unit is also implementing phase 2 of the project with the expectation that after completion, it will provide accommodation for about 10,000 workers.
Along with this project, the Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board also awarded an investment certificate for the project to build a worker housing area for the investor of Universal Industrial Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Dinh Vu - Cat Hai Economic Zone) with a total investment of 18.34 million USD, land area used for 2.4 hectares, construction scale of 4 7-storey dormitories and 1 3-storey public utility building, serving accommodation for a maximum of 4,000 workers.
The city also encourages businesses to research and implement other policies to attract employees, especially to study policies to partially support employees in purchasing social housing. Thereby, gradually solving social security problems, improving the material and spiritual life of workers, contributing to the development of human resources for the city.
