Ms. Dinh Thi Vui (35 years old, Nam Dinh) - a leather shoe worker - said that since the beginning of the year, the company has asked her to work overtime until 7:30 p.m. because there is a shortage of people.
"At the beginning of the year, the number of people quitting was quite large, the company had to recruit workers over 45 years old but it was still not enough. Old workers like us are all required to work overtime until 7:30 p.m. to return home, said Ms. Vui.
However, gradually getting used to it and discussing the income from overtime, Ms. Vui could not hide her joy.
"Overtime is calculated at 150% of salary compared to normal hourly salary. Overtime helps me earn up to 9.5 million VND/month, so I decided to take a part of my salary to ask my grandparents to take care of my children in the evenings" - Ms. Vui shared.
In addition, according to the female worker, overtime is a feeling that passes very quickly. Therefore, she will try to work overtime every day to earn more income because she and her husband are raising 3 children, which is quite expensive.
When asked why many companies only work during office hours or come home earlier in the area, why not choose, the female worker shared 2 reasons. First, according to Ms. Vui, companies that come early on administrative hours and earn only over 6 million VND per month have a hard time ensuring their lives.
Second, companies operating in the garment sector at 6pm, Ms. Vui has no need to do this job.
Ms. Pham Thi Mai (23 years old) - a garment worker in Nam Dinh - said that she had to stay overtime to keep up with the production progress for the company.

Working according to output, the overtime of Ms. Mai and other workers will be calculated at 30,000 VND/hour, starting after 5pm. According to Ms. Mai, this calculation method is not disadvantageous compared to the salary paid for working hours.
"The hourly salary in many companies is about 24,000 VND, if calculated at 150%, it will be 36,000 VND, only 6,000 VND more than here, but we are still counted for additional output during overtime, so we are not disadvantaged" - Ms. Mai said.
Ms. Mai said that sometimes the company asks to work overtime on Sunday with a support of 100,000 VND. Each day of overtime is 2 hours, the salary increases by 1.5 to 2.5 million VND depending on the month.
According to Ms. Mai, overtime until 7pm is completely reasonable for those who are not busy with family or children. The female worker hopes the company will have many orders, and work overtime regularly until 7pm as at present to increase income.
In the immediate future, Ms. Mai plans to work overtime until she gets married. When having children, female workers are still willing to work overtime if the company requires them, but they hope the overtime time will not exceed 6pm.
