The female worker said that after the petition, the company decided to increase the basic salary by 6% for employees, applicable from March 2025. Calculating her income for March, Ms. Thu said that it could increase by more than 1 million VND per month compared to the old basic salary.
"The company also increased the basic salary when there was information about the State's adjustment to increase the regional minimum wage. Typically, in June 2024, the company decided to increase the basic salary by 6% for workers" - Ms. Thu said.
Ms. Pham Thi Ly (38 years old) - a garment worker in Bac Giang said that the basic salary increase is mainly based on working experience and the State's adjustment level.

My company often increases the basic salary for employees when the State adjusts to increase the regional minimum wage or every 3 years. Occasionally, it will be adjusted to increase at the beginning of the new year or when the company has good profits" - Ms. Ly said.
Increasing the basic salary every 3 years, according to Ms. Ly, the main purpose is to retain long-time employees. The female worker said that in the garment industry, the more experienced the person is, the more priority is given.
When asked why she did not propose to increase the basic salary every 2 years or even every year, Ms. Ly shared that it was not important. The reason is that Ms. Ly and other workers are paid according to output, not depending on the basic salary.
The female worker said that she has produced many products with high unit prices, and her new income has increased accordingly. A salary of over 10 million VND can even be over 15 million VND. The basic salary is only the basis for monthly social insurance contributions, only beneficial when receiving insurance benefits.
However, Ms. Ly still recommends that the State pay more attention to workers working at enterprises, adjust the annual regional minimum wage increase for companies to apply, thereby adjusting the corresponding basic salary increase.
