Lam Dong - Workshop to find solutions to innovate the work of practically caring for the rights, health, and lives of female workers.

After 15 years, women's work has gradually innovated

On September 7, in Lam Vien ward - Da Lat (Lam Dong), the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor organized a workshop to contribute opinions summarizing 15 years of implementing Resolution No. 6b/NQ-BCH, Directive No. 03/CT-TLĐ and draft new Resolution on women's work.

Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Thai Thu Xuong attended and delivered a directing speech.

After 15 years, Trade Unions at all levels have gradually innovated the content and methods of operation; focusing on building policies, dialogue, negotiation, supervision and protection of women's labor rights.

Many models of health care, child support, building happy families, and improving the lives of female union members are maintained and replicated.

The movement "Good at state affairs, good at housework" contributes to promoting the capacity, creativity and responsibility of female union members.

However, the quality of women's work is not uniform; dialogue, negotiation, supervision and support for the progress of women in some places have not met the requirements. Resources and funding at the grassroots level are still limited.

A survey in 2026 at 5 units shows that the movement "Good at state affairs, good at housework" in some places is still formalistic.

Many female workers are under pressure when they both complete their work and take care of their families.

Ms. Thai Thu Xuong said that female workers want men to share housework, raise children and receive more attention to health and spiritual life.

Switching from operation to substantive care

According to Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Thai Thu Xuong, digital transformation, green transformation, automation and artificial intelligence are changing jobs, skills, and posing new requirements for women's work.

The innovation of women's work is to shift from organizing widespread activities to representing, caring for, and protecting in-depth rights; from statistics of the number of meetings and classes to measuring the actual changes in employment, income, working conditions, development opportunities and the quality of life of female union members and workers," Ms. Thai Thu Xuong emphasized.

Female workers are increasingly interested in housing, kindergartens, health care, labor safety and work-family balance.

Sexual harassment, gender discrimination and double burden issues need to be prevented and handled effectively.

The new Resolution for the period 2026 - 2031, with a vision to 2045, orients the shift from organizing widespread activities to representing, caring for and protecting substantive rights.

Efficiency is assessed through employment, income, working conditions, development opportunities and quality of life.

The movement "Good at state affairs, good at housework" needs to innovate criteria, associated with the capacity, creativity and contribution of women; and at the same time encourage men to share housework.

The criterion of "being good at housework" should not create double pressure for female workers; evaluation and commendation should be simple and transparent.

Delegates proposed improving the effectiveness of collective bargaining, taking care of health, maternity, and raising young children; supporting female workers to adapt to digital transformation, artificial intelligence and career change.

In particular, it is necessary to strengthen in-depth examinations for mothers and children; care for housing, nurseries, health, education and have appropriate policies for single mothers, orphans, and workers in difficult circumstances.

In addition, improving the capacity of female officials and building gender-separated data is proposed to help the Trade Union closely grasp needs and develop appropriate policies.
