Dong Nai ranks 3rd in the country in terms of number of union members.
On September 28, a working delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor led by Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor worked with the Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee on the results of developing union members and establishing grassroots unions in the area.
At the meeting, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Ngo Duy Hieu said: The work of developing union members and establishing grassroots unions is a very important task, requiring special attention and clearly stated in Resolution 02 of the Politburo.
According to the Dong Nai Provincial Federation of Labor, Dong Nai province has 17 direct grassroots trade unions and nearly 3,000 grassroots trade unions with over 660,000 union members, ranking third in the country in terms of the number of union members, with a union membership rate of nearly 95%.
In the first 9 months of 2024, the whole province newly established 79 grassroots unions, developing nearly 34,000 new union members.
At the meeting, many representatives proposed to increase the number of union officials. The representative of Bien Hoa City leadership said that Bien Hoa City has over 200,000 workers and 6 industrial parks, but there are very few full-time union officials, so it is recommended to add more staff.
Dong Nai Provincial Federation of Labor recommends that the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor consider the policy of implementing contract and professional contracts beyond the number of staff assigned by the Party Committee, based on the number of union members and the number of grassroots unions that the unit manages, taking into account specific factors of the industry, whether the activities are concentrated or dispersed...
Also at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Son Hung - Vice Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee said that the signing of collective labor agreements is very effective, especially in state-owned enterprises; proposed that the Provincial Labor Federation promote this content to increase workers' income.
Mr. Nguyen Son Hung also suggested that the problems of salary debt and insurance debt need to be resolved.
Developing union members and establishing grassroots unions is a very important task.
Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Ngo Duy Hieu suggested that the Dong Nai Provincial Confederation of Labor should complete and soon operate the Steering Committee for developing union members, establish grassroots unions, and pay attention to enterprises with large numbers of workers, FDI enterprises, etc. Improving the quality of grassroots union activities is a fundamental issue that needs more attention. Grasping the situation of workers, paying attention to core workers at the grassroots level.
