Co-chairing the meeting were Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Ngo Duy Hieu and Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Hung Yen province Tran Quoc Toan.
Actual increase of 5,464 members
At the meeting, Mr. Le Quang Toan - Chairman of the Hung Yen Provincial Federation of Labor - said that as of August 2024, the Hung Yen Provincial Federation of Labor managed 1,639 grassroots trade unions, an increase of nearly 30,000 union members compared to 2018.
With effective measures, since the beginning of the year, the whole Hung Yen province has developed 8,792 new union members, of which 6,644 new union members have been developed in private economic units, reaching 55.4% of the target assigned by the Hung Yen Provincial Party Committee; developing 39 union members in the informal sector, reaching 7.8% of the target assigned by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. The actual increase in union members is 5,464 union members, reaching 27.6% compared to the target assigned by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and reaching 27.3% compared to the plan built by the Provincial Confederation of Labor.
The province has newly established 59 trade unions, including 7 trade unions in the foreign-invested enterprise sector; 51 trade unions in private economic units, reaching 85% of the target assigned by the Hung Yen Provincial Party Committee...
In the coming time, the Hung Yen Provincial Federation of Labor will continue to implement 6 key tasks. In particular, the Provincial Federation of Labor will direct all levels of unions to regularly improve the steering committee for developing union members, select and improve union officials with enthusiasm and experience in the work and invite representatives of relevant organizations to participate in the steering committee; strengthen innovation and diversify propaganda and mobilization work to develop union members, establish grassroots unions, combine many forms and contents of propaganda in one propaganda session. Take industrial parks, industrial clusters and places with many enterprises as the focus for direction and implementation. Promote the work of caring for and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and workers...
There are still more than 350 FDI enterprises without trade unions.
Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Tran Quoc Toan said that the Hung Yen Provincial Party Committee issued Resolution No. 15-NQ/TU dated October 8, 2021 on building and developing party organizations and party members in private economic units for the period 2021 - 2025.
According to Mr. Tran Quoc Toan, Hung Yen province is currently actively developing industrial parks, attracting many investors and workers; in addition, there are more than 350 FDI enterprises in the province that do not have a trade union organization, which is a great opportunity to develop union members and establish grassroots trade unions.
“In order to achieve good results in developing union members and establishing grassroots unions in the province, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor will continue to coordinate with the Provincial Party Committee and the People's Committee of Hung Yen province to have specific orientations, policies and instructions for the above work. Along with that, trade unions at all levels in the province need to coordinate with functional agencies to grasp the ideological developments of workers and business owners. The Hung Yen Provincial Confederation of Labor and the Department of Planning and Investment of Hung Yen province should promptly approach business owners from the time they register to operate in the province to persuade them to create conditions for establishing grassroots unions and admitting union members; focusing on researching solutions to develop union members and establish grassroots unions in more than 350 FDI enterprises…” - the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Hung Yen Provincial Party Committee expressed his opinion.
On behalf of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Vice President Ngo Duy Hieu thanked the Provincial Party Committee, People's Committee and People's Council of Hung Yen province for supporting, creating conditions and directing functional agencies for the Trade Union to well perform the task of developing union members and establishing grassroots trade unions.
Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu assessed that Hung Yen trade unions at all levels have made great efforts to implement the goals and targets on developing union members and establishing grassroots trade unions set by the Provincial Party Committee and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor...
“However, the work of developing union members and establishing grassroots unions is a very important task, so the Hung Yen Provincial Federation of Labor needs to continue to make efforts, overcome difficulties, and apply many new ways of doing things; coordinate with the political system in the province, in which priority can be given to establishing a Committee focusing only on union members and establishing grassroots unions; the Provincial Federation of Labor classifies FDI enterprises into appropriate stages to approach and grasp the psychology of employers in order to persuade and mobilize them to create conditions for unions to operate in enterprises” - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Ngo Duy Hieu directed.
