Building social housing faster
Dong Nai is a province with many industrial parks and many workers living in makeshift boarding houses. According to the Department of Construction of Dong Nai province, the demand for social housing in the province is about 600,000 - 650,000 people, equivalent to 150,000 - 160,000 units. Of which, industrial park workers account for about 450,000 people, the rest are freelancers, officials, civil servants and other low-income groups.
Identifying social housing development as a key political task, Dong Nai province has adjusted and set a target to complete 67,000 units or more by 2030 to meet the needs of workers and other subjects.
According to the Department of Construction, in 2026, Dong Nai province is expected to start construction of 23 social housing projects with a scale of more than 21,800 apartments. In the first 2 months of 2026, Dong Nai province started construction of 4 projects, with a scale of more than 4,400 apartments. Previously, Dong Nai province had planned a land fund of 700ha to develop social housing and worker housing, not to mention about 400ha belonging to the 20% fund in commercial housing projects.
Mr. Ho Van Ha - Vice Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee said that Dong Nai is an area with many businesses and companies in industrial parks, and employees are the company's resources and assets. Therefore, it is proposed that the Department of Construction continue to launch a movement to build social housing faster.
Expecting cheap social housing suitable for workers
Mr. Nguyen Gia Thuy (27 years old) - a worker at a company in Amata Industrial Park, Long Binh ward, Dong Nai province - said: With low incomes, workers can only buy social housing at low prices and receive installments because they do not have hundreds of millions of VND in savings to buy a house once.
Mr. Le Van Binh - Chairman of the grassroots Trade Union of Saitex International Dong Nai Co., Ltd. (Amata Industrial Park, Long Binh Ward, Dong Nai Province, with more than 3,000 workers) - also said that currently many workers in the area are migrant workers, who are renting rooms, so they are very much looking forward to cheap social housing areas, suitable for low incomes of workers, because currently many social housing areas in Dong Nai province are still expensive, from several hundred million VND to billions of VND/unit, far exceeding the income capacity of workers at about 10-12 million VND/month, only enough to cover family life.
Talking to a reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of Thong Nhat Joint Stock Company said that the company has started construction of 1 block of apartment buildings serving workers in the service center of Bau Xeo Industrial Park with a scale of 75 apartments that have been roofed and are being completed to prepare for sale to workers and social housing beneficiaries. Social housing purchase procedures are more convenient, so many freelance workers buy more.
Previously, 2 apartment blocks serving workers belonging to the social housing project invested by Thong Nhat Joint Stock Company with a quantity of 205 units, an area of about 31-70m2, temporary selling price calculated from 4-11.4 million VND/m2 (depending on the floor), equivalent to 133-888 million VND/unit and nearly 40% have been sold.
And Mr. Nguyen Minh Hai - Director of An Hung Phat Infrastructure Development Joint Stock Company, the investor of the social housing project in Phuoc Tan ward - said: The company has also just started construction of another social housing block with a scale of more than 400 apartments and also targets cadres, civil servants, low-income people, helping businesses retain workers to feel secure in working in Dong Nai province.
