In Dong Nai, many enterprises with a large number of female workers have built kindergartens for workers' children, equipped suction rooms, dormitories, expanded parking lots and built separate, clean and convenient toilets for female workers. In addition, many businesses also maintain support for allowances for female workers such as childcare allowances, childcare support, etc.
Regarding working hours and rest regime for female workers, many enterprises arrange pregnant female workers to eat and leave work 5-10 minutes earlier; female workers are given 30 minutes/day off during the "second" time of the month; arrange pregnant female workers, raising young children, and older workers for lighter work, suitable for health and time to take care of children.
The Long Khanh City Labor Federation regularly guides grassroots trade unions in enterprises to take care of reproductive health and plan families for female workers in the garment industry. Every year, the union organizes health check-ups on the occasion of March 8, Workers' Month, October 20... with thousands of female workers being examined and given medicine.
Recently, on March 15, the Dong Nai Provincial Federation of Labor organized a worker meeting program for the first quarter of 2025 with the theme "Union accompanies the care and protection of female workers" at Pou Chen Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Hoa An ward, Bien Hoa city) with the participation of about 200 female workers.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhu Y - President of the Dong Nai Provincial Federation of Labor - said that many enterprises have paid attention to building kindergartens for workers' children such as: Phong Thai Group, Pouchen Vietnam Co., Ltd., TKG Taekwang Vina Joint Stock Company...
Activities to protect female workers have also received special attention from the union and support from the Trade Union Legal Consulting Center under the Dong Nai Provincial Federation of Labor. The Dong Nai Provincial Federation of Labor also organized many movements for female workers such as honoring female workers "Good at public work, good at housework"...
Negotiating additional benefits for female workers
Along with movement activities, grassroots trade unions also skillfully negotiate with business owners good policies so that female workers can work with peace of mind.
The Trade Union of shingmark Vina Co., Ltd. (in Bau Xeo Industrial Park, Trang Bom District) has had a direct dialogue with the company's Board of Directors to make 5 proposals to help increase benefits for female workers such as: Organizing a periodic Obstetrics and Gynecology examination for female workers once a year and consulting on health care for female workers, screening for serious illnesses; improving lunch for female workers pregnant and raising children under 12 months old, raising the level of meal support; increasing the level of support for female workers raising children under 6 years old; supporting female workers giving birth; arranging separate parking areas for pregnant and raising children.
Mr. Vu Hoang Mong Cuong - Chairman of the company's Trade Union - said that because the company has a large number of female employees, the company also regularly implements well the policies for female employees in accordance with the provisions of law. However, the company's grassroots union executive board found that there were still some contents that did not meet the expectations of workers, so they had a dialogue and proposed to the company's board of directors to provide additional support for workers, ensuring social security for workers.
According to Ms. Tran Thi Hong Thao - Chairwoman of Trang Bom District Labor Federation, at shingmark Vina Company Limited, there is also a "mental" content that female workers whose contracts have expired but are pregnant or raising young children are prioritizing new contracts.
