On April 8, the People's Committee of Can Tho City issued a report on the direction and management of the People's Committee; the socio-economic situation in March, the first quarter and key tasks for April, the second quarter of 2025.
Accordingly, in the first quarter of 2025, Can Tho Export Processing and Industrial Zones attracted 1 new investment project with a total capital of 308.22 million USD; adjusted 3 investment registration certificates, the total adjusted capital increased by 6.18 million USD; terminated 2 investment projects.
To date, Can Tho Export Processing and Industrial Zones have 255 projects, with a total registered investment capital of 2.260 billion USD, an implemented capital of 1.306 billion USD, accounting for 58% of the total registered investment capital.
The total revenue of enterprises operating in industrial parks in the city in the first quarter of 2025 was 667.8 million USD, down 2.8% over the same period in 2024. The total number of workers working in Can Tho industrial parks by March 2025 is 46,949 workers, an increase of 4,743 workers over the same period in 2024. The number of employees of FDI enterprises is 23,363 people.
In the first 3 months of 2025, the city has granted new business registrations to 521 enterprises of all kinds with a total capital of VND 2,002.347 billion, an increase of 23.46% in the number of enterprises and a decrease of 34.23% in capital compared to the same period.
The total number of enterprises voluntarily dissolved was 40, down 23.08% over the same period; 590 enterprises registered to temporarily suspend operations, up 18% over the same period; 219 enterprises registered to resume operations, up 31.93% over the same period.
Regarding domestic investment attraction (outside industrial parks), in the first quarter of 2025, the city has not had any new projects. As of the reporting time, there are currently 94 projects in the city approved by the City People's Committee for investment policies that are being implemented, with a total area of about 1,922.61 hectares.
Regarding foreign direct investment (FDI), up to now, the city currently has 79 foreign direct investment projects with a total registered investment capital of about 2,211.70 million USD. There are 29 projects in the industrial park with a total registered capital of 612.33 million USD. In addition to the industrial park, there are 50 projects with a total registered capital of 1,607.37 million USD.
