Learning to do, learning from books, colleagues and production practices
Born in Yen Thanh district - a countryside rich in the tradition of studiousness of Nghe An province, To Quang Thuc (born in 1992) always believes: Only by constant learning can we adapt and create value in an increasingly modern industrial production environment.
After graduating with a major in Chemical Engineering Technology from Hanoi University of Industry, he started working at The Vissai Cement Company. Here, Thuc accumulates the first experiences from equipment operation to cement production technology analysis.
Mr. Thuc said: I study theory in school, but to be able to apply it to production, I have to continue to re-study from the beginning - learn from equipment, from operation, from colleagues, from each time the furnace has problems or defective products. Every day at work is a day to learn a new thing".
A memorable milestone in Mr. Thuc's vocational training process was in 2019, when he participated in a specialized training course in Denmark organized by the world's leading cement equipment company FLSmith.
Here, Mr. Thuc has access to advanced knowledge about production lines, energy control, emission treatment, etc. This is also a stepping stone to help him mature quickly when joining Tan Thang Cement Joint Stock Company - a high-tech cement factory in the Central region.
Initiative worth over 3 billion VND from innovative thinking and love for the job
In the context of the cement industry facing many difficulties due to sharp increases in input material prices, a declining consumption market, Thuc's initiative has become even more valuable. He boldly proposed to completely replace DO oil (expensive fuel) with low-grade FIO/FOR, combined with the use of FNT6VN fire support additives during the drying and heating phase of the clinker - an important stage, consuming many operating costs.
According to calculations, with a blend ratio of 1 liter of added oil/40m3, each hour of drying the oven saves about 18.5 million VND. In 2024, the Company used 285,000kg of FIO/FOR oil, equivalent to 174 drying hours, saving more than 3.2 billion VND. This is the result of months of research, testing, and adjustment of technical specifications to ensure fire performance as well as product quality.
Not only is the initiative of economic significance, it also contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and can be applied to other industries such as ceramics, boilers, FO/DO oil incineration systems, etc.
Along with that, Mr. Thuc also proactively and the Technology Department team proposed many improvements in equipment management, control of input - output quality, ensure stable operation, save electricity, improve labor productivity and product quality to meet export standards.
Since 2021, when he was put in the ranks of the Party, To Quang Thuc has been more aware of the role and responsibility of Party members in enterprises.
He shared: As a Party member, I think I need to be a pioneer in studying, in creativity and in action. Each initiative is not only the result of personal intelligence but also a responsibility for the development of the collective, the company and the lives of workers.
With that spirit, he is always close, sharing, learning from his colleagues, inspiring creativity for the younger generation of engineers. He believes that solidarity - learning - not afraid to innovate is a vital factor for cement factories to overcome the current challenging period.
Recognizing his practical contributions, in 2024, he was commended by the Tan Thang Cement Party Cell as a Party member who completed his tasks excellently. He is also one of two young party members proposed by the Nghe An Provincial Federation of Labor to be honored by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
