Have a warm home to welcome family reunion
The 60m2 house in Quyet Tien 1 village, An Thang commune, An Lao district, Hai Phong of Ms. Vu Thi Dung's family, a worker in the gas meter assembly department of Aichi Denki Vietnam Co., Ltd., only needs one more coat of paint to complete.
Moving her belongings to the new house, Ms. Dung confided that nearly 10 years of working as a factory worker was also the same amount of time spent in a cramped, run-down rented house. Because Ms. Dung's income up to now is only over 5 million VND/month, her husband is a seasonal worker, earning only about 3.5 million VND/month. The couple's total income is just enough to cover family expenses, children's education, almost no savings, not daring to dream of a house of their own.
Sharing Dung's situation, the Hai Phong City Labor Federation supported her with 50 million VND to build a Trade Union Shelter. The procedures were quick, helping Dung's family complete the house before Tet according to the family's wishes.
“Thanks to the union, my dream has come true. This year, my family celebrates Tet in a new, warm and spacious house,” Dung said emotionally.
The joy doubled when on the inauguration day of the Trade Union Shelter, Ms. Dung received a Tet gift from the Hai Phong Economic Zone Trade Union and received information about the Tet bonus from the company. With a Tet bonus of 1.5 months' salary, for Ms. Dung, this Tet will be really happy.
According to information from the Hai Phong Economic Zone Trade Union, by December 25, more than 150 enterprises had reported on Tet bonuses, the average bonus for the Lunar New Year was about 600,000 VND/person, and for the Lunar New Year it was nearly 1.2 months' salary/person.
Ms. Bui Hong Hanh - a worker at Synztec Vietnam Co., Ltd. - was excited to receive the information that the company would give workers a 2.5 month salary bonus for Tet. We were very happy and had more motivation to work and produce. "Hearing the Tet bonus makes me feel like Tet is right around the corner" - Ms. Hanh said.
Bringing a happy Tet to all union members and workers
As part of the Tet care activities, up to now, the Hai Phong City Labor Federation has allocated 4,600 online shopping vouchers worth 500,000 VND from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor to union members with outstanding achievements in labor and production, union members in difficult circumstances, and low-income. At the same time, it has prepared 2,500 shopping vouchers (each voucher worth 200,000 VND) to give to union members and workers in difficult circumstances at the Hai Phong Trade Union Tet market taking place from January 11 to 17, 2025 at the Vietnam-Czech Friendship Labor Cultural Palace.
The total budget for Tet care for workers is expected to be 8 billion VND from the budget of the City Labor Federation, 10 billion VND from the Hai Phong City People's Committee and other mobilized sources. Compared to 2024, the budget for Tet care for union members from the Hai Phong City People's Committee increased by 4 billion VND. The City Labor Federation subsidized, gave gifts, and supported bus tickets and trips for about 35,000 union members and workers.
The Hai Phong City Labor Federation also directed the direct superior union to take care of workers in difficulty and with low incomes, not exceeding 10% of the total number of union members of the unit directly managing them; the support level is 500,000 VND/person, paid in cash; the funding source is from the reserve fund and using the existing regular operation fund.
The grassroots trade union balances regular revenue and expenditure during the year and uses the accumulated trade union financial resources of the unit to carry out Tet care activities for employees in accordance with the conditions of the unit. Up to this point, some units have organized year-end parties and given Tet gifts to employees such as Fujikura Composite Co., Ltd. (Japan Industrial Park - Hai Phong), Bridgestone Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Dinh Vu Industrial Park) ... creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere for employees before the New Year.
