Welcoming thousands of new union members during Workers' Month
In Workers' Month 2025, the Hong Bang District Labor Federation established 7 grassroots unions with more than 220 union members.
The announcement ceremony of the decision to establish 7 grassroots unions was solemnly held, associated with a conference to commend good workers and good safety and hygiene in the district. Thereby, it shows the timely attention and recognition of the Trade Union organization for union members and employees, attracting a large number of employees to join the Trade Union organization.
After nearly 3 years of persistent mobilization, recently, the Hai Phong Economic Zone Trade Union established the Nano Vision Company Limited Trade Union (Trang Due Industrial Park), admitting 260 company employees as union members.
It is known that in addition to Nano Vision Company Limited, many units of the Economic Zone Trade Union also have to mobilize for a long time until the date of establishment of the grassroots trade union and development of union members. "For "difficult" units, the Economic Zone Trade Union prioritizes No. 1, organizing propaganda to employees regardless of working hours, holidays, and weekends. With that perseverance, up to now, most of these units have grassroots unions, the rate of employees joining the Trade Union organization is high" - said a representative of the Economic Zone Trade Union.
Focusing on developing union members and establishing grassroots unions, Hai Phong Trade Unions at all levels also allocate resources to mobilize and develop grassroots unions.
On May 12, the Thuy Nguyen City Labor Federation announced the decision to establish the Lap Le Ward Fisheries Union, admitting 28 workers of fisheries establishments in the ward to the Trade Union.
It is known that this is the second grassroots union established by the Thuy Nguyen City Labor Federation after the independent preschool union with a total of 88 members.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Quynh Huong - a union member - shared: "Since joining the Trade Union organization, participating in activities organized by trade unions at all levels, the collective of cadres and teachers has become more connected. Life has also improved thanks to the attention and care of the Trade Union such as supporting house repair, emergency loans...".
Striving to complete the target of developing 52,000 union members
According to statistics from the Organizing - Inspection Committee of the Hai Phong City Labor Federation, as of May 31, the City Labor Federation managed 2,937 grassroots unions with 362,482 union members. The number of newly developed union members in the first 5 months of 2025 is 27,838, the actual increase is 14,754 union members. 110/114 grassroots trade unions and trade unions were established, nearly reaching the target for 2025.
The work of developing union members and establishing grassroots unions in 5 months encountered many difficulties. Accordingly, some enterprises dissolved and moved factories in the second quarter, so the number of workers and union members decreased. Many business owners still do not create conditions to establish trade unions...
According to Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - Chairman of the Hai Phong City Labor Federation, in 2025, Hai Phong aims to develop 52,000 union members, including 45,500 grassroots union members and 6,500 grassroots union members. The City Labor Federation spends 3 billion VND on union member development.
Therefore, the City Labor Federation directs units to focus on reviewing, propagating, mobilizing, admitting union members, establishing grassroots unions and trade unions, completing the highest target, striving to maintain Hai Phong's achievement as the leading unit in the country in developing union members.
Units continue to review and coordinate with local social insurance agencies to compare the number of employees who have paid social insurance to promote the development of union members.
The City Labor Federation also studies and supplements the plan, has a mechanism to support units in propagating, mobilizing the establishment of grassroots unions, developing union members as well as rewarding and encouraging units that have completed their tasks well.
