Dien Bien - From a series of articles reflecting from Lao Dong Newspaper, dozens of workers have been paid by enterprises after many months of delay.

On the morning of July 30, informing reporters of Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Vi Van Bien - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nu Ngam Commune - said that DPP Tay Bac Company Limited (owner of Dien Bien Cassava Starch Processing Factory) has just paid a portion of the unpaid wages to many workers and laborers.

"According to the list, 35 workers and laborers at Dien Bien Cassava Starch Processing Factory have received a total of 385 million VND," said Mr. Bien.

Mr. Bien said that although the workers' wages have been settled, the company still has some other debts related to the land leveling wages (for factory construction) and the purchase of fresh cassava from the people.

During the working process, the company affirmed that there was available money to settle the debts. However, due to the need for time to compare the workload, invoices, and documents with each individual and household related to cassava purchases, the payment will be made as soon as possible.

"The company also commits that when all debts are paid, the factory will continue to operate normally, purchasing cassava for local people" - Mr. Bien informed.

Regarding the operation of the enterprise, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nu Ngam commune added that DPP Tay Bac Company Limited has made changes to the board of directors. The new director is Mr. Lo Viet Hoang, replacing Mr. Ta Hong Diep who resigned.

On the same day, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Luong Van Son (residing in Na O village, mua Ngam commune), a worker working in the factory, was owed wages and confirmed to the reporter that he had been paid.

Mr. Son excitedly said: "The company has paid me the full amount of unpaid salaries for February and March 2025. The total amount of money received is 7.8 million VND".

Mr. Quang Thanh Nghia (residing in Na O village, mua Ngam commune) - a leveling worker with unpaid wages - said: "Up to now, I have not received the salary for leveling the ground and selling cassava. The company will meet today (July 30) to go to the factory to compare documents and settle payments".

Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper published a series of articles reflecting "The case of dozens of workers being owed wages in Dien Bien".

Accordingly, from February 6 to March 13, 2025, workers have completed the assigned work. However, Mr. Ta Hong Diep - Director of DPP Tay Bac Company Limited - has not yet paid more than 530 million VND in salary as agreed.

Not only owed workers' salaries, a group of 13 other individuals also submitted a petition to the authorities of Na Tong commune (old) about the DPP Tay Bac Company Limited not yet paying about 600 million VND. Of which, 300 million VND is spent on land clearance and cassava factory construction and about 300 million VND is spent on buying fresh cassava from people.

Although after the reflection of Lao Dong Newspaper, the district-level government (in June 2025) took action, the company director committed to paying salaries to workers and laborers before June 30. But by the end of June, the Director of DPP Tay Bac Company Limited was once again "losing the tables".

After that, the company promised to mobilize resources to solve the problem for workers in July 2025.

On July 15, the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee of Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee issued a document requesting the People's Committee of Nu Ngam Commune to clarify the content of Lao Dong Newspaper's reflection and send accurate and complete information on the incident before July 22.
