On July 28, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Chu Van Bach - Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Nua Commune, Dien Bien Province - said that the road connecting the Department of Home Affairs (National Highway 12) to Thanh Nua Commune (the center of the old Thanh Hung Commune) is being actively repaired and handled by construction units at some locations.
"The units are leveling and rolling the road surface to ensure safe and convenient travel for people" - Mr. Bach informed.
According to the leader of Thanh Nua commune, the construction work is currently facing many difficulties due to the heavy rain affecting the progress. The local government is making efforts to handle and complete the temporary repair as soon as possible.
It is known that the estimated cost for the repair is more than 200 million VND, from the local transportation budget.
Regarding the long-term plan, Mr. Chu Van Bach said that Thanh Nua commune has submitted a document to the People's Committee of Dien Bien province to request an investment policy for the project to upgrade and renovate the road from National Highway 12 (km195+150) connecting branch line 1 (belonging to the dynamic road project).
The proposed project includes investment in 2 main lines. Accordingly, route 1 from National Highway 12 (km195+150) connecting branch route 1 (dingential road project) has a total length of about 2.05km, invested according to the scale of a level 4 traffic road, a 15m wide roadbed and a 14m wide road surface.
With route 2, connecting the center of Thanh Nua commune with the main dynamic road, with a total length of about 0.65km (the starting point is in the Thanh Luong Primary School area), according to the scale of a level 4 traffic road, a 10m roadbed and a 6m road surface.
The total estimated investment of the project is 145 billion VND, from the central budget, the provincial local budget and other legal capital sources. The project implementation period is proposed to be 2025-2027.
According to the leader of Thanh Nua commune, the 145 billion VND project not only solves the travel problem but also creates a new development space axis, synchronously connecting with National Highway 12 and the dynamic road, serving the socio-economic development of the commune.
Mr. Bach added that the road from National Highway 12 to Thanh Nua commune (centre of the old Thanh Hung commune) has been approved by the People's Committee of Dien Bien Phu city (old) for investment project to implement the project to upgrade and renovate Dien Bien Airport. However, up to now, capital has not been allocated for implementation.
Previously, reflecting to Lao Dong Newspaper, people in Thanh Nua Commune, Dien Bien Province said that when traveling on the road connecting the Department of Home Affairs (National Highway 12) to Thanh Nua Commune (the center of the old Thanh Hung Commune), they encountered many difficulties due to the road being filled with mud, full of "elephant cages" and "potholes".
According to research, the road is the main traffic axis for people in the two old communes of Thanh Hung and Thanh Luong (now Thanh Nua commune). Since the road has deteriorated, many people have had to accept going around more than 1km to ensure safety.
