The outstanding results of trade union activities in 2025 show that an organization is not only "keeping the fire" of tradition but also persistently creating a foundation for the next development journey.
Labor and employment are more stable, income continues to improve
In the context of a basically stable macroeconomy, inflation is controlled, science and technology, innovation and digital transformation are promoted, the labor market in 2025 recorded many positive signals. The whole country has about 52 million people employed, an increase of more than half a million people compared to the previous year; the unemployment rate continues to decrease, reflecting the recovery and positive shift of the economy.
Employee income has improved significantly, with an average income in the first 9 months of the year reaching about 8.3 million VND/month, an increase of 10% compared to the same period. In particular, the Tet Nguyen Dan At Ty bonus in 2025 increased by 13% compared to the previous year, which is a signal showing that the sharing of responsibilities is increasingly clear between businesses and employees.
However, behind the positive figures, there are still many concerns. A part of workers are affected by the process of arranging and streamlining the apparatus; natural disasters, storms, extreme weather directly affect livelihoods; violations of labor laws, salary debts, and social insurance debts still occur in some places. In that context, the role of the Trade Union organization is even more clearly shown.
Proactively represent and protect the rights of workers
One of the most prominent imprints of trade union activities in 2025 is the proactiveness and responsibility in participating in building and perfecting institutions. The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has contributed opinions on dozens of draft laws, resolutions, decrees, and circulars directly related to workers and trade union organizations; and closely coordinated with the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations in the process of amending and supplementing the 2013 Constitution and important laws such as the Trade Union Law, the Social Insurance Law, and the Law on Implementation of Democracy at the Grassroots Level.
In particular, the participation of the National Wage Council, proposing to adjust the regional minimum wage increase from January 1, 2026 with an average increase of 7.2%, shows that the representative voice of the Trade Union is becoming more substantive and weighty, contributing to ensuring a minimum living standard for workers in the context of high living costs.
At the grassroots level, the work of dialogue and collective bargaining continues to be improved in both quantity and quality. Trade union levels have promptly intervened in collective work stoppages, coordinated with the government and businesses to dialogue and remove obstacles, helping most workers to return to work soon, minimizing prolonged conflicts in labor relations.
Spreading the spirit of sharing
2025 continues to mark a strong mark of activities to care for union members and workers, especially those in difficult circumstances. Tet care programs are organized methodically, flexibly, strongly towards the grassroots level, ensuring "no one is left behind".
Faced with the heavy impact of natural disasters and storms in many northern and central provinces, the Trade Union organization quickly launched donations and timely support for union members and workers who were affected. Compassionate bus trips and support packages to the right places and at the right time not only bring material value but are also a great source of spiritual encouragement.
A humane highlight is the simultaneous organization of more than 5,000 "Trade Union Meals" nationwide, right on the occasion of the anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour and major holidays. The warm and intimate meal space has contributed to connecting workers with businesses and trade union organizations, creating a strong link in the working environment.
In parallel with that, the Trade Union actively participates in proposing and implementing social housing and housing projects for workers, including the commencement of housing projects for workers to rent in some localities. This is a long-term direction, showing the responsibility of the Trade Union organization in solving the fundamental social security issues of workers.
Arousing creativity
With the theme "Vietnamese workers pioneering into a new era", Workers' Month 2025 has truly become a major highlight in the lives of workers and laborers. A series of practical and creative activities have been implemented from the grassroots to the central level, attracting a large number of union members and workers to participate.
The National Creative Labor Day and the Forum "Promoting the Creative Potential of Workers" have created a space to connect, exchange, and encourage the spirit of innovation and initiative among workers, civil servants, and laborers. As a result, more than 186,000 initiatives have been applied in practice, with a profit value of tens of thousands of billions of VND - telling figures about the pioneering role of workers in improving productivity, quality, and efficiency.
streamlining the apparatus, developing union members
Implementing the resolutions and conclusions of the Central Government on arranging and streamlining the organizational structure, the Trade Union organization has proactively reviewed and rearranged the organizational system in the direction of streamlining, effectiveness, and efficiency. Reducing focal points and restructuring specialized departments and public service units, accompanied by taking care of regimes and policies for affected officials, shows the drastic but humaneness in the renovation process.
Along with that, the work of developing union members achieved outstanding results. In 2025, the whole country actually developed by more than 622 thousand union members, establishing nearly 2,900 grassroots trade unions, including many professional unions in the informal sector. Nearly 60 thousand outstanding union members were introduced to the Party for consideration, training, and admission, contributing to affirming the role of the Trade Union in participating in building the Party and building a clean and strong political system.
Patriotic emulation movement spreads strongly
The 11th National Patriotic Emulation Congress among workers, civil servants, and laborers and honoring programs such as "Vietnam Glory", "Exemplary Enterprises for Workers" continue to affirm the value of the patriotic emulation movement in the new era. The collectives and individuals honored are not only advanced examples but also a source of inspiration, spreading the spirit of dedication and social responsibility in the business community and workers.
Foundation for a new stage of development
Overall, trade union activities in 2025 show that an organization is undergoing strong transformation, both steadfastly achieving the goal of representing, caring for, and protecting workers, and proactively innovating operating methods, adapting to the requirements of the modern economy and deep integration.
