The final round of the qualifying round took place at Ton Duc Thang University Stadium on the afternoon of September 29. Thousands of spectators at the stadium witnessed an exciting match with high professional quality.
With the importance of the match for the championship of the HCMC regional qualifying round, the two teams played fiercely in the first half, but there were not many attractive attacks. Instead, the match was often interrupted by fouls from both sides.
In the second half, Dong Nai 1 Union made reasonable adjustments in personnel and playing style, creating great pressure on the opponent. They took advantage of the opponent's loss of physical strength, thereby continuously creating opportunities. In the 51st minute, Nguyen Huu Hanh headed the ball to score for Dong Nai 1 Union.
Not long after, Tran Cong Lam raised the score to 2-0. Dong Thap Union rose strongly in the final minutes. They pushed their formation high, even the goalkeeper was ready to attack. However, the team from the Southwest region could not make a difference. On the contrary, Dong Thap Union received another goal after Huu Hanh scored.
In the end, Dong Nai 1 Trade Union defeated Dong Thap Trade Union to win the 2024 Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament, qualifying round in Ho Chi Minh City. The champion team also received a prize of 50 million VND, the runner-up team received 30 million VND.
Meanwhile, Ben Tre Trade Union team ranked 3rd (receiving 20 million VND in prize money), and Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union 2 team ranked 4th.
These four teams will also represent the Ho Chi Minh City region in the final round, which will take place in Hanoi this November. In total, the Ho Chi Minh City region qualifiers will feature 16 teams, competing from September 27 to 29.
The 2024 Vietnam Workers' and Civil Servants' Football Tournament is jointly organized by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and Tuoi Tre Newspaper.
The qualifying round will take place from September to October 2024 in 4 regions: Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Nghe An, Bac Ninh. The 16 best teams in the qualifying round will qualify for the National Finals, taking place in November 2024 in Hanoi.
The total prize of the 2024 Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament is up to 930 million VND, an increase compared to 840 million VND in 2023. To ensure the right participants, the organizing committee has tightened the regulations, carefully checked labor contracts, participated in social insurance, health insurance... according to the criteria of "4 musts, 2 don'ts".
Accordingly, players must be male civil servants, public employees, workers, Vietnamese nationality, working in agencies, business units, paying health insurance for 1 year or more, having a labor contract, participating in social insurance.
In addition, they must install the VssID application of the Vietnam Social Security, as well as have a personal identification account on the VNeID application of the Ministry of Public Security.
