The Signing Ceremony between the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, the Vietnam Football Federation, and Tuoi Tre Newspaper, with the presence of Mr. Ngọ Duy Hiểu - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour; Mr. Trần Quốc Tuấn - Chairman of the Vietnam Football Federation; and Mr. Trần Xuân Toàn - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Tuoi Tre Newspaper.
Also attending were Ms. Lê Thị Hoàng Yến - Deputy Director of the Department of Physical Education and Sports, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and representatives from various departments, agencies, and relevant organizations.
The 2024 Vietnam Labour Union Football Tournament, organized by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, the Vietnam Football Federation, and Tuoi Tre Newspaper, aims to promote physical exercise and sports activities, contributing to improving the cultural and spiritual life of civil servants, public employees, and workers.
According to the Organizing Committee, the tournament's purpose is to encourage and motivate civil servants, public employees, and workers to engage in physical exercise and improve their cultural and spiritual life, thereby enhancing their productivity, quality, and efficiency, contributing to the country's economic and social development. It also provides a platform for civil servants, public employees, and workers to showcase their talents, exchange experiences, and foster unity and solidarity.
The tournament also promotes recreational football activities, contributes to the development of Vietnamese football, connects the labour market, and facilitates employment between enterprises and workers; and provides care for the material and spiritual life of trade union members, civil servants, public employees, and workers.
The 2024 Vietnam Labour Union Football Tournament is also a meaningful activity to commemorate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union (July 28, 1929 - July 28, 2024).
Mr. Ngọ Duy Hiểu - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour and Mr. Trần Xuân Toàn - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Tuoi Tre Newspaper are responsible for organizing the tournament.
The Vietnam General Confederation of Labour will chair the establishment of the Steering Committee and the Organizing Committee, direct and assign tasks to members of the Steering Committee and the Organizing Committee; and act as the Standing Committee of the Steering Committee.
The Vietnam General Confederation of Labour will also direct and assign tasks to provincial and municipal trade unions, central trade unions, and equivalent organizations to organize teams to participate in the tournament and bear the costs of food, accommodation, transportation, and other expenses directly related to the team's participation in the tournament.
In his speech at the signing ceremony, Mr. Ngọ Duy Hiểu stated that caring for the health of workers is one of the tasks of the trade union. This enables workers to have good health and work more effectively, increasing their productivity. Based on the organization of the 2023 tournament, this year's tournament has expanded its target to include public employees.
The tournament is expected to take place over two months, with 64 teams participating and 160 matches. The estimated prize money is approximately 930 million VND. The tournament also includes activities such as gift-giving and health checks for workers.
