Voices from the grassroots level become policy
At the dialogue conference between the Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee and union members and workers, Ms. Nam Khanh - a trade union official in the province said that she boldly proposed adjusting regulations on income conditions when buying social housing.
According to Ms. Khanh, the previous regulation of a maximum income of 15 million VND/month caused many single, elderly workers who have worked for many years but do not have stable housing to not have enough conditions to access policies. "Currently, the income level has been increased to 25 million VND/month, creating opportunities for many workers who are eligible to buy social housing. This shows that the voice from the grassroots level through the Trade Union organization can contribute to bringing policies closer to reality" - Ms. Khanh assessed.
At Fujiura Nha Trang Limited Company, in the period 2023 - 2025, production and business activities faced many difficulties, directly affecting the jobs and incomes of union members and workers.
In that context, the Executive Committee of the grassroots Trade Union has proactively coordinated with businesses to strengthen dialogue and negotiation to harmonize the interests between workers and businesses.
Ms. Pham Thi Tuyet My - Chairwoman of the grassroots Trade Union of Fujiura Nha Trang Limited Liability Company - said that the trade union has worked with the business to maintain jobs, ensure timely payment of salaries and benefits. Many benefits higher than the provisions of law continue to be maintained, such as employees who are married are entitled to 5 days of full-time leave instead of 3 days as prescribed.
As a result, the business agreed to adjust the travel support level from 800,000 VND to 1.3 million VND/month, depending on the job position. "In the dialogue process, I always define the principle of harmonizing benefits, sharing risks to find common ground between employees and businesses" - Ms. My said.
Improving the quality of dialogue
According to the Khanh Hoa Provincial Labor Federation, in the past time, trade union levels have coordinated to organize employee conferences to improve the effectiveness of implementing democracy at the grassroots level. The rate of non-state-owned enterprises organizing employee conferences reached 80%. Notably, the whole province has more than 500 grassroots trade unions in enterprises signing collective labor agreements, reaching a rate of 88%.
Mr. Bui Dang Thanh - Vice Chairman of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Labor Federation - informed that the Provincial Labor Federation has identified "Promoting dialogue and collective bargaining, focusing on ensuring salaries, bonuses, working hours, rest hours and labor safety and hygiene" as one of the breakthroughs.
