Working at the company from a vocational training worker, going through the positions of production team leader, workshop deputy, workshop leader, Enterprise Director, Company Director, do you have any deep memories with Lao Dong Newspaper?
- There are many memories because Lao Dong Newspaper and Vietnam Trade Union Printing Joint Stock Company are always close to each other. I remember most when assigning tasks as well as when talking, former President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Van Tu always reminded me and Mr. Pham Huy Hoan - Editor-in-Chief of Lao Dong Newspaper - at that time: A pen-taker (official), a hammer-holding man (workers), two brothers combined to develop Lao Dong Newspaper. The profound meaning of this advice is also the coordination and solidarity between intellectuals and workers for mutual development.
Perhaps I am lucky because for many years, I have been able to read the first printed pages of each issue of Lao Dong Newspaper. One year, when I read an article in Lao Dong Xuan Newspaper, which had been printed in 5,000 copies, I discovered an error in the time frame in the article. I immediately reported to Editor-in-Chief Pham Huy Hoan and temporarily stopped printing to edit. After finishing the edit, they will continue to print, avoiding losses for the Newspaper if they have printed all 80,000 copies at that time. Because of the timely detection and handling, Editor-in-Chief Pham Huy Hoan gave me a large sum of money at that time, enough to take care of Tet for the whole family. I am very happy, not only because of the bonus but also because I have contributed a part of the benefits to the newspaper.
Mr. Pham Huy Hoan often told me: You must consider the work of the newspaper as your work, I consider the work of Vietnam Trade Union Printing Joint Stock Company as my work so that we can both do a good job assigned by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and move forward together.
As the leader of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor said, Lao Dong Newspaper and the Printing Company must coordinate to develop together. Which milestone in the development process do you remember most, sir?
- In 1990, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor allowed the Trade Union Press to expand the workshop, invest in equipment innovation, bring Offset printing technology into production, gradually replace and eliminate inappropriate typo printing technology. In 1991, the Trade Union Printing Factory was renamed Vietnam Trade Union Printing Enterprise.
Implementing Decision No. 446/TLD dated May 14, 1994 of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor allowing the Trade Union Printing Enterprise to upgrade and expand its factory, invest in modern machinery and equipment is a milestone to open a promising period but also many difficulties and challenges for the Trade Union Printing Enterprise.
In 1995, the printing factory was acquired by Lao Dong Newspaper to organize the implementation of a project to upgrade equipment, factories, and invest in new modern machinery to print Lao Dong Newspaper on a 4/4 color Toshiba coil printer in Hanoi, thereby improving the quality and progress of printing newspapers when switching from 4/0 color printing on a 4-0 color blend machine to printing on an 8/4 color coil printer. If it took 12 hours to print 5 colors of the leaves before, now it only takes nearly 4 hours. At one time, solve problems of productivity, quality, and time. This both meets the demand for quality and increasingly high printing time of Lao Dong Newspaper, and creates a breakthrough in the company's expertise.
Sir, what is the basis for the company to build a team of highly skilled workers like today?
- At every stage, implementing the democratic regulations, regularly organizing periodic dialogue conferences and surprise dialogues is very important. Through the dialogue, leaders know the thoughts and aspirations of workers, promptly resolve problems and through the dialogue, workers will understand the production and business situation of the Company to strive for as well as clearly see their responsibilities. The important thing when organizing dialogues is for leaders to put themselves in the position of workers, workers to put themselves in the position of leaders. Only then will both sides have deep sympathy and sharing. This is the basis for each worker to cultivate skills, learn and improve their skills.
