International Men's Day and the silent recognition
While International Women's Day March 8 or Vietnamese Women's Day October 20 has become familiar, November 19 is still quite unfamiliar to many Vietnamese people.
The holiday was initiated in 1999 in Trinities & Tobago, and was later responded to by the United Nations and more than 80 countries. The purpose is to honor the positive contributions of men in the family and society and promote gender equality in a comprehensive direction - not only caring for women, but also listening and sharing the pressure of men in work and life.
In that context, it is rare for a foreign enterprise in Da Nang - Sedo Vinako Company Limited (100% capital in Korea) - to proactively pay special attention to male union members.
On the occasion of November 19 this year, the Trade Union and the company's leaders presented 1,200 gifts, worth more than 360 million VND to 1,200 male workers and employees of the company.
This activity comes from the perspective of the business leaders that all efforts of workers, whether male or female, deserve to be recognized, and the timely encouragement will create more motivation for "brats" to work with peace of mind and stick with the business.
On social media, Mr. Viet Trung - a worker of the company - expressed his emotion: "This is the first time in my life that I have been given a gift on the occasion of the International Day of Men, it is so happy and meaningful, I love the company so much".
Sedo Vinako currently has more than 5,000 workers working in the manufacturing - processing - trade sector of the garment industry. This is the largest Korean enterprise in Duy Xuyen (Da Nang) and is one of the typical FDI enterprises in the locality. For many years, Sedo Vinako has been famous for its "culture of respecting people" in human resource governance.
Not only taking care of salaries, bonuses, maternity benefits, insurance, and periodic health check-ups, the company also built a library of more than 8,000 books for workers and their children.
"When workers are healthy, businesses are strong"
It is worth mentioning that during the flood in late October, although the company was also heavily flooded, goods were damaged, and equipment was severely damaged, Sedo Vinako still decided to support 3 million VND for each worker, with a total cost of more than 15 billion VND.
Mr. Le Hoan Giang - Chairman of the Company's Trade Union - said that the entire amount of money was transferred directly to the workers, at the same time, the company mobilized all human resources to clear the mud, restore the factory, and prepare for reproduction to " take care of people and save the factory".
Remember, the decision to support each worker with 3 million VND immediately spread on social networks. Hundreds of comments expressed their emotions: "The leadership is so humane and wonderful" - Nguyen Nhu Art shared. Ms. Truong Trang was happy: "I have 3 million to buy rice to fight the storm!"; Ms. Hong Tran affirmed: "12 years of being together, Sedo is great".
Not stopping there, Sedo Vinako also donated 5 billion VND to Duy Xuyen commune (Da Nang) to overcome the consequences of natural disasters - a kind act that further makes the business's name more appreciated.
Mr. Le Van Dai - Permanent Vice President of the Da Nang City Labor Federation - assessed: "Although suffering heavy losses, businesses still put workers first. That is a very valuable gesture, demonstrating the spirit of true companionship between the Trade Union and the business owner".
Returning to giving gifts to union members and workers on International Men's Day - in the context that many places have not paid attention to this day - Sedo Vinako's choice of giving gifts to male workers has shown his silent but meaningful concern.
As Mr. Kim Byung Tae - Director of Sedo Vinako Company - once said: "For me, workers are also family members. When workers are healthy, businesses are strong".
1,200 gifts are not only material value, but also a message: the enterprise appreciates the contributions of each male worker - those who are taking on heavy and tiring work every day on the sewing line, equipment operation, warehouse management and many other important positions.
