Connecting the community, creating widespread influence
I have been close to the Golden Heart Fund (the Fund) for 10 years, having exchanged and worked together with the brothers and sisters in charge of the Fund, so I somewhat feel the contributions that are both drastic, silent, and patient of the Fund.
The contributions of the Fund have helped change so many lives, so many fates, have contributed to building a more beautiful life, helping the Trade Union organization become closer and making Lao Dong Newspaper "richer" in spiritual values, humanity, and social influence.
When accompanying the Fund, I have many memories, many unforgettable memories.
In 2012, the program "Net of Affection for Hoang Sa - Truong Sa Fishermen" was born, then in 2014 the program "Gratitude for Hoang Sa - Truong Sa" created a rapid and strong spread.
These two programs contribute to fostering patriotism, connecting the community, and creating widespread influence. Among them, the greatest significance is the remembrance and gratitude for cadres, soldiers, and righteous soldiers who bravely sacrificed in the struggles to protect the sovereignty of the Fatherland's sea and islands.
The two programs also ignite the spirit of solidarity, supporting fishermen to feel secure in going offshore and sticking to the sea, overcoming all hardships and challenges.
The Gac Ma Soldiers Memorial Area and the monument "Those Who Rest at the Horizon" (Khanh Hoa) are symbolic and have great historical significance, like the highlight in the heroic epic of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Navy.
This is also a gathering place for 64 families of Gac Ma martyrs and their comrades, a place to invite patriotic generations to feel a historical cross-section, a cross-section of the value of peace, it is also a story about a peace-loving nation but must fight indomitablely and steadfastly to achieve peace and maintain national sovereignty.
If the VGCL is the unit that builds policies, designs, and decides, creating consensus for a necessary program, then the Golden Heart Fund of Labor has taken on the responsibility of advising and successfully organizing, turning activities into large events with spillover effects.
Lao Dong Newspaper with good reporters, enthusiastic officials of the Social Work Committee has participated in collecting and conveying touching information; conducting diverse forms of financial mobilization; having appropriate measures to nurture 2 programs "Net of Affection for Hoang Sa - Truong Sa Fishermen" and "Affection for Hoang Sa - Truong Sa".
Coming to the Gac Ma Soldiers Memorial Area, many people feel that Truong Sa is as close as recently, very familiar with square banyan trees, phong ba trees, and storm trees. These trees were brought from Truong Sa by Navy soldiers to plant, and are now very green and lush.
Many artifacts of Gac Ma martyrs are collected, completed, and preciously preserved by the Golden Heart Fund.
Rarely has a social charity fund had such a long and deeply impressive journey, creating such strong influence.
So many lives, so many fates have changed
In 2015, in response to the call of the VGCL, bringing Tet to workers, the Golden Heart Fund of Labor had the initiative to organize the "Tet Sum vay" program for the first time in Dong Anh Industrial Park (Hanoi) and support other provinces and cities to organize together.
The companionship of many businesses right from the first launch helped the Fund create a new, very distinctive, very unique and meaningful program.
Tet Sum vay" has brought joy of reunion to countless families of thousands of workers, especially workers who have not had the conditions to return to their hometowns for Tet or visit their parents for many years. Through the program, we also encounter touching stories about the lives, jobs, income, and responsibilities to families of workers that have not been mentioned properly.
Over time, "Tet Sum vay" has become larger in scale, recognized and concerned by many levels, sectors, and people. But, I still cannot forget the first time when "Tet Sum vay" had to face many hardships and concerns in finding financial resources and finding development solutions nationwide.
The organizers of "Tet Sum vay" are making efforts to find the content of activities and the name so that the program is highly humane and cultural, not just a charity activity. The decision to name "Sum vay" has contained many expectations of workers far from home; the saving of every penny, every artifact of supporting organizations and individuals. The organizers of "Tet Sum vay" are also concerned about how to bring more gifts, more meaningful things to workers and laborers across the country.
That is the activity, the gesture of the Golden Heart Fund that has realized the policy of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour in the early years of opening up large-scale, necessary, national-scale activities.
The Golden Heart Fund is also a fulcrum for particularly difficult cases when unexpected disasters strike.
I have been able to visit workers who suffered severe labor accidents many times with you in the Golden Heart Fund. I will always remember the story of Ms. Nguyen Thi Tra's family - a worker in An Thi Industrial Park (Hung Yen) on January 18, 2019.
Both husband and wife are workers, Ms. Tra has thyroid cancer and her son, Do Hoang Anh (born in 2009), unfortunately had an accident on December 21, 2018. He suffered brain damage.
Along with Editor-in-Chief of Lao Dong Newspaper Nguyen Ngoc Hien and philanthropists visiting and encouraging Ms. Nguyen Thi Tra's family at the intensive care unit of Viet Duc Hospital, I seemed to understand more about the noble work of the Golden Heart Fund for the children of workers in tragic, difficult, and urgent cases.
The timely and quick help of the Fund has helped many fates, many lives have a better future.
The warmth of "golden hearts
This noble gesture continues another noble gesture that has made the brand of the Golden Heart Fund.
Charity activities, joining hands for a better society - not just simple activities behind the newspaper but becoming an important part of the newspaper, beautifying the principles and purposes of the newspaper of the Trade Union organization when jointly building trade union culture.
There are many organizations and individuals who trust the Golden Heart Fund, are attached for a long time, and are present in time when needed. They are the "golden hearts" containing so much deep humanity.
The brothers/sisters who have worked at the Labor Golden Heart Fund for 30 years are also people with "golden hearts", with enough brightness and purity to discover and convincingly convey the actions and circumstances that need community sharing.
Thank you to the brothers and sisters of the Golden Heart Fund, including many people who have retired and are about to retire, you have had beautiful memories of nurturing vitality, extending the meaningful operation journey of the Fund.
Hopefully, the path ahead of the Fund will always be wide open to contribute to making the "meaning and affection" of the Trade Union organization for union members, for workers, especially those in difficult lives, always find a solid and reliable support.
