Difficulty finding a suitable job
Ms. Duong Thu Thao - a 4th year student at the Academy of Journalism and Communication said that this year, companies have tightened spending, been more strict in recruitment and only prioritized the recruitment of part-time employees, interns can take on many positions.

I worked as a marketing staff at a Chinese language center for 3 months. My work is both filming and taking photos, consulting on admissions... During my work, the workload gradually increased in the context of little personnel, affecting my internship time for the thesis. After that, I decided to resign. Currently studying for the final year, I want to find a job to both earn more income and have practical experience. However, based on the current actual situation, I realized that finding a job that is both suitable for the time and ensures an income is really difficult, Ms. Thao shared.
Also facing many difficulties like Ms. Thao, Mr. Nguyen Binh Minh said: I started creating content since my first year of high school with the desire to be financially independent. However, this year the economy is fluctuating, businesses have begun to tighten spending, prioritizing multi-talented or experienced personnel. As a student who studies and works at the same time, I clearly feel this fierce competition. Short-term freelance projects are gradually declining, while companies require a commitment to a fixed working schedule - something that is very difficult for a foreign trade student with a tight study schedule like me to meet.

According to Mr. Minh, along with the risk of losing his job, it is also very difficult for him to find a new job right after Tet because employers often want employees to start right before Tet to get used to the process.
A different picture of recruitment
In the last months of the year, labor recruitment demand in Hanoi often enters a peak period to serve production, business and consumption during Tet. However, this year's recruitment picture shows many differences compared to previous years. Instead of expanding recruitment massively, many businesses have proactively adjusted their human resources strategies in a cautious direction, prioritizing quality over quantity.
Mr. Le Duc Dung - Director of TDM Trading and Strategic Consulting Company (Ba Dinh Ward, Hanoi) said that in the context of increased input costs and not strong recovery, his company chose the option of "carefully selecting" and only adding personnel in positions that are really necessary.
In particular, the company's recruitment criteria have also shifted significantly: Prioritizing multi-talented personnel with practical experience or who have worked in a similar environment. Even in part-time or seasonal positions, the requirements for communication skills, technology use, order processing, and independent work management are higher than before.
Mr. Vu Quang Thanh - Deputy Director of Hanoi Employment Service Center emphasized that the service, trade, logistics or industrial production sectors still have recruitment needs at the end of the year, but the recruitment scale is not large, focusing on positions that can handle many tasks, flexible in time and skills. This trend clearly reflects the requirements that businesses place on employees: to work immediately, reduce training costs and quickly adapt to high work intensity at the end of the year.
In that context, the working group does not have much experience, especially young workers, students who study and work at the same time, and are most clearly affected. fewer jobs, while the number of job seekers has not decreased, increases competitiveness. Many students reported having to submit their applications in many places but still having difficulty finding a suitable job; some places require full-time work, some places prioritize people who have worked or have certain professional skills. This makes year-end job opportunities less "accessible" as many workers have expected," said Mr. Thanh.
According to the Hanoi Employment Service Center, it is not only difficult to find a job, but the income from year-end jobs of this simple group of workers also tends to decrease compared to previous years. Some accept to work with lower salaries or extended working hours to earn more income. The pressure of spending at the end of the year and increasing living expenses make young workers clearly feel the fierce competition in the labor market.
According to experts, the trend of businesses not recruiting heavily but prioritizing quality human resources is inevitable in the context of many economic fluctuations. This reality requires workers, especially young workers, to proactively equip themselves with professional skills, digital skills and accumulate practical experience earlier. As the labor market is increasingly screening, only those who are able to adapt quickly and meet practical requirements can seize job opportunities, even during the peak season at the end of the year.
