Can Tho Labor Federation applies technology to union member management

MỸ LY |

Along with the urgent need to stabilize the organization after the merger and arrangement, Can Tho Trade Union is gradually innovating its methods of operation, taking advantage of opportunities to continue to promote its role as a solid and reliable support for union members and workers.

Stable organization

Following the direction of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) and the Can Tho City Party Committee, the City Labor Federation has focused on implementing the reorganization of the apparatus to ensure synchronization, unity and efficiency.

Accordingly, the Can Tho City Labor Federation has terminated the activities of 12 trade unions at the grassroots level and the Executive Committee, Standing Committee, and Inspection Committee. At the same time, dissolve the organization and terminate the activities of 792 grassroots trade unions (CDCS) in State administrative agencies, public service units receiving 100% of salaries from the State budget and grassroots trade unions in district-level agencies and units that terminate operations with 30,147 union members.

The new Can Tho City Labor Federation was established, on the basis of merging the old Can Tho City Labor Federation, Hau Giang, and Soc Trang Labor Federation. The Executive Committee of the new Can Tho City Labor Federation, term 2023-2028, consists of 30 comrades.

After the merger and reorganization process, the Can Tho City Labor Federation entered a new phase of operation with a vibrant and positive working atmosphere. Changes in structure and personnel do not delay or interrupt the operations of the City Labor Federation. The new team of cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers of the Can Tho City Labor Federation has shown high determination to quickly stabilize and promote work efficiency.

Ms. Le Thi Suong Mai - President of the Can Tho City Labor Federation - informed: "Each city union cadre is deeply aware of the importance of continuing to do a good job of professional work, at the same time, ensuring the smooth operation of the new apparatus. In particular, in the new and favorable context, the city's trade union cadres are given the opportunity and encouraged to proactively self-study, improve their qualifications, innovate their thinking and creativity in caring for union members and employees".

Promoting the application of information technology

After the merger and reorganization process, the Can Tho City Labor Federation is facing many opportunities and challenges. In the context of expanding management areas, uneven distribution of residents and businesses, the City Labor Federation is paying special attention to strongly innovating operating methods and enhancing digital transformation.

Accordingly, applying information technology to union member management and implementation of union activities not only helps to significantly save time and resources but also improves transparency and efficiency in management.

In particular, the Can Tho City Labor Federation focuses on strengthening guidance and support on trade union work for grassroots trade unions, focusing on the non-state sector of enterprises - where professional support is extremely necessary.

Trade unions at all levels are encouraged to promote initiative and creativity in organizing activities. The activities continue to be aimed at union members and employees, ensuring practicality, closely following the characteristics of each industry and unit to truly meet the needs and aspirations of union members and employees.

With the synchronous implementation of these orientations, we expect to help the Can Tho City Labor Federation become more stable after the merger and continue to affirm its position as a solid and reliable support for union members and workers in the area - Ms. Le Thi Suong Mai - President of the Can Tho City Labor Federation - said.

In Vietnam, the gold market is regulated by Decree No. 24/2012/ND-CP with a centralized management model, excluding the production of gold bars, but after more than a decade of operation, this mechanism has revealed many shortcomings. Resolution 68-NQ/TW of the Politburo emphasizes the need to "Innovate the thinking of law making and enforcement according to the socialist-oriented market mechanism". In that context, the Draft amending Decree 24 needs a fundamental change in management thinking - it cannot patch technical problems, but must reform institutions substantially.
