In your new position, can you tell us what your top priority is in the activities of the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union?
- Thank you Lao Dong Newspaper. I am very touched and happy that the Newspaper has always paid attention to the activities of the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union and localities across the country in recent times. At the same time, he hoped that Lao Dong Newspaper would continue to accompany the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union in the coming time to protect and best care for the rights of union members and workers.
Regarding the activities of the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union, the immediate priority of the Standing Committee, the Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation and I personally is to quickly stabilize the organization and apparatus, assign tasks to members of the Standing Committee and the Executive Committee, thereby immediately starting the work and activities of the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union after the merger.
Having grown up as a grassroots union cadre, then held leadership positions of the Binh Duong Provincial Federation of Labor and worked as a Party member directly in charge of local leadership and direction as well as the mass mobilization and propaganda work of the Provincial Party Committee before, what advantages and difficulties will there be in the activities of the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union in the coming period?
- I think that the activities of the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union in the coming time will also have certain advantages. First of all, it is the attention and direction of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City with the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union; the consensus and cooperation of the collective team of the Standing Committee, Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union with individuals who were once capable and enthusiastic leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union, Binh Duong province, and Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.
However, Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union activities in the coming time will also face many difficulties and challenges. First, after the merger, the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation will manage the number of union members of about 2.5 million people with more than 22,000 grassroots unions. This is a very large number of union members and grassroots unions.
Meanwhile, according to the two-level local government model, there will be no more district and county Labor Federations, no union organizations at the grassroots level. Therefore, the activities of the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union when implementing activities from the city to the grassroots level will have many new points, and there may be unpredictable difficulties.
Ho Chi Minh City is also the largest urban area in the country with many industrial parks with a large number of workers. Social problems and disputes related to labor relations, the lives and employment of union members and workers may also arise more often than before.
Sir, in such a context, what will the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union do to best perform its functions and powers to protect the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and workers?
- It can be said that the tasks in the coming time of the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union are quite heavy as I analyzed above. This requires each member of the Standing Committee, Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation, and union officials, especially grassroots unions, to make every effort to closely follow the grassroots, be close to, and promptly grasp the employment situation, life, thoughts, and aspirations of union members and workers.
In the immediate future, the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union organization must prioritize closely implementing the Resolution of the 13th Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the resolutions of the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union Congress, Binh Duong province, and Ba Ria-Vung Tau province (old) for the 2023 - 2028 term. In which priority is given to protecting the legitimate and legal rights and best caring for the material and spiritual lives of union members and workers.
At the same time, strengthen propaganda and dissemination of the Party and State's guidelines and policies to union officials, union members and employees, thereby creating consensus and unity in implementing the two-level local government model, striving to compete for good workers and creative workers, contributing to the socio-economic development of Ho Chi Minh City and the country, towards building Ho Chi Minh City to a new stature as an international super city of Southeast Asia; continue to build and develop the Trade Union organization, attract and gather workers to the Trade Union organization, join hands to contribute to building the Vietnam Trade Union organization to become increasingly stronger, develop, and contribute to the development of Ho Chi Minh City in the new era, the era of national growth.
