On February 20, more than 100 union officials at all levels under the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation attended the Conference to summarize 10 years of implementing Resolution No. 6b/NQ-TLD dated August 3, 2015 of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor on "Improving the quality and efficiency of the activities of the Trade Union Inspection Committee", organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation.
Mr. Truong Hong Son - Chairman of the Inspection Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation - said that in the period of 2015 - 2025, the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Union at all levels conducted 140,064 inspections, including 116,388 inspections at the same level and 23,676 inspections at lower levels.
The inspection results showed that trade unions at all levels basically complied with the provisions of the charter, resolutions, directives, and regulations of trade unions, researched and applied in accordance with the practical operations of each locality, unit, and sector.
Ho Chi Minh City Trade Unions at all levels have organized congresses in accordance with the plan and instructions and direction of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation, the basic living regime and union meetings have been maintained, ensured, and increased publicity and democracy in trade union activities.
Trade unions at all levels have proactively developed and organized the implementation of work programs and plans, developed and completed the working regulations of trade unions, the results of the inspection of compliance with the Vietnam Trade Union Charter have helped to effectively implement the resolutions of trade unions at the higher and the same level.
However, the work of planning and training union cadres is still limited, some grassroots unions still extend the term of the congress, some places have propaganda and dissemination work on the Party's resolutions, the State's policies and laws, and the trade union that are still scattered, not concentrated, slow or not concretized, and developed into programs and action plans in accordance with the practice of each level's trade unions.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Vo Khac Thai - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation - commented that if the work of inspecting trade unions is well implemented, it will help strengthen trade union activities.
Mr. Thai suggested that Ho Chi Minh City Trade Unions at all levels need to raise awareness and enhance the role and responsibility of the Executive Committee, Standing Committee, and Trade Union Chairmen at all levels in leading, directing, and organizing the implementation of inspection, supervision, and organization of the activities of the Trade Union Inspection Committee.
At the same time, focus on strengthening the organization and operation of the Trade Union Inspection Committee, planning, arranging the construction, improving the quality of the team of Inspection Committee members and officers working in inspection and supervision of trade unions to ensure quality, capacity, enthusiasm, courage, responsibility, understanding of trade union activities, legal policies, and professional proficiency to ensure effective implementation of functions and tasks.
"inspection plays an important role, helping to improve trade union activities. Therefore, the work of inspecting trade unions must be substantial, avoiding formality," said Mr. Thai.
On this occasion, the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation commended 54 collectives and 42 individuals who have performed well in the work of inspecting trade unions over the past 10 years.
