Youme Law Firm LLC said that according to Article 112 of the 2019 Labor Code, holidays and Tet holidays are regulated as follows:
- Employees are entitled to take a day off and receive full pay during the following holidays and Tet:
(1) New Year's Day: 1 day (January);
(2) Lunar New Year: 5 days;
(3) Victory Day: 1 day (April 30);
(4) International Labor Day: 1 day (May 1);
(5) National Day: 2 days (2 days of the 9th lunar month and 1 day before or after);
(6) Hung Vuong's Commemoration Day: 1 day (10th of the third lunar month).
- Foreign workers working in Vietnam, in addition to the above-mentioned holidays, are also entitled to an additional day off for the traditional national New Year and a day off for their country's National Day.
- Every year, based on actual conditions, the Prime Minister decides specifically on the day off specified in Point (2) and Point (5) above.
Thus, based on the above regulations, on Hung Vuong's Commemoration Day (March 10 of the lunar calendar), employees can take a day off work and receive a full salary of 1 day.
In 2025, Hung Vuong's Commemoration Day falls on Monday, April 7, 2025. Therefore, for workers whose weekly days off fall on Saturdays and Sundays, the Hung Vuong Commemoration Day holiday in 2025 will last 3 consecutive days from April 5 to April 7, 2025.
In case the weekly day off for workers is only 1 Sunday, the Hung Vuong Commemoration Day holiday in 2025 will last 2 consecutive days from April 6 to April 7, 2025.
Note: If the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day holiday in 2025 falls on the weekly day off for employees (ie the second), employees will be entitled to compensatory weekly day off on the next working day (according to Clause 3, Article 111 of the 2019 Labor Code).
