Stabilizing life
In Tan Thanh commune, Tan Phu Dong district, Tien Giang province, the new house of Ms. Tran Thi Huynh Mai (Union member) - working at Tan Thanh Primary School - is gradually being completed
Ms. Tran Thi Huynh Mai - said that her family has 3 members. Her husband is a freelancer, while she is a teacher and is currently renting a house to live in.
"My monthly income is just enough for the whole family to cover their living expenses, I don't have much. With the support of 50 million VND from the Union, along with this amount of money borrowed from relatives, my dream of owning a house has come true. Currently, my family's house is under construction and is almost completed. When completed, it will help me and my family have a place to settle down and start a business. This is my family's dream for many years, said Ms. Mai.
Ms. Pham Thi Quyen - a teacher at Binh Xuan 2 Primary School (Go Cong City, Tien Giang Province) - said that her family's income is just enough to cover daily living, so there is not enough money to build a house.
"Without the help of the Trade Union, my husband and I would still be living in a temporary house" - Ms. Quyen shared.
Ms. Quyen said that her and her husband's temporary house was built a long time ago and is now seriously degraded. Every time it rains, water flows into the house; there is not much income, so there are no conditions to repair or rebuild the house.
Trade unions help union members settle down
Mr. Le Minh Hung - Chairman of the Tien Giang Provincial Federation of Labor - said that understanding the housing difficulties of union members and workers, in recent years, with many different mobilization sources, the Tien Giang Provincial Federation of Labor has supported the construction and repair of hundreds of houses for union members and workers. Thereby, creating motivation for them to overcome difficulties, stabilize their lives, fulfill their tasks well at agencies, units and enterprises, and at the same time stick with the Trade Union organization.
Implementing the movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses" in the province, from the beginning of 2025 to now, the Tien Giang Provincial Federation of Labor has awarded support for 16 "Union Shelters" to union members and workers with difficult housing circumstances, with a total cost of 800 million VND" - Mr. Le Minh Hung said.
According to Mr. Hung, the Trade Union Shelter housing program has become one of the social activities with widespread influence, demonstrating the spirit of solidarity, mutual love, and mutual assistance, affirming the true value of the "home" of the Trade Union organization. This program has truly brought practical results, contributing positively to eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses and realizing the dream of settling down and making a living for workers.
