For many years, the "Trade Union Shelter" program has become a support for many union members and workers in difficult housing circumstances. For Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Chi - a member of the grassroots Trade Union of Ching Luh Vietnam Footwear Co., Ltd., the new house supported for construction not only helps her family stabilize their lives but also adds motivation for her to feel secure in her work.
At the end of January 2026, the Tay Ninh Provincial Labor Federation coordinated with the Golden Heart Charity Fund and Vietnam Industrial Zone Company to organize the awarding of "Trade Union Shelter" to Ms. Chi's family in Binh Duc commune.
Ms. Chi said that her family used to live in a dilapidated old house. The income of the couple mainly depended on working as workers and freelancers, so saving up to build a house was difficult.
When the Trade Union informed me of house construction support, I was very happy. If I only rely on my family's income, I don't know when I will have the conditions to build a new house," Ms. Chi shared.
The house was started on November 2, 2025 and completed on December 19, 2025. The project is a level-four house, with an area of about 100m2 with a total construction cost of about 180 million VND.
In which, Vietnam Industrial Zone Company through the Golden Heart Charity Fund supported 50 million VND, and the grassroots Trade Union of Ching Luh Vietnam Footwear Co., Ltd. supported an additional 20 million VND. The remaining funding was contributed by the family and relatives.
Having a new house, family life is much more stable. Before, every rainy season, the whole family was worried because the old house was leaking and the foundation was low. Now that there is a stable place to live, my husband and I are more assured to go to work," Ms. Chi said.
Not only material support, according to Ms. Chi, what moved her was the concern of the Trade Union organization for union members in difficult circumstances.
During the house construction process, Trade Union officials regularly inquire and encourage the family. I feel the very practical concern from the Trade Union organization for workers," Ms. Chi added.
Mr. Nguyen Hoai Thanh - Vice Chairman of the Tay Ninh Provincial Labor Federation said that the "Trade Union Shelter" program is one of the key activities of the Trade Union organization for union members and workers facing housing difficulties.
According to Mr. Thanh, supporting housing construction helps union members stabilize their lives, thereby being assured of working and long-term attachment to businesses.
Through the program, the Trade Union organization wishes to add motivation for union members to overcome difficulties and gradually improve the quality of life," Mr. Thanh said.
In recent years, along with other care programs for union members and workers, "Trade Union Shelter" has contributed to supporting many workers in Tay Ninh to have stable housing. From the houses being built, many union member families have more conditions to settle down to feel secure in working and production.
