seasonal job hunting trap during the September 2 holiday
As the National Day holiday approaches, seasonal job recruitment news is increasingly popular on social networks. From distributing leaflets, serving at coffee shops, to computer jobs posting online, ... all are advertised with salaries twice as high as normal days.
Seeing the recruitment information for distributing leaflets with a salary of 500,000 VND/day, Nguyen Trung Duc (3rd year student, Hanoi) immediately contacted to register to participate.
"They asked me to transfer 300,000 VND in advance for the uniform and promised to return it after the meeting. I immediately followed, but after depositing the money, I could not contact the company, and I lost the money and was unemployed, Trung Duc recalled.
Immediately afterwards, Trung Duc went online to look up information about the company and discovered that many people had fallen into similar scams.
Not only this male student, Ms. Le Thi Hong (Hanoi) was also promised a job as a waiter for a restaurant during the 4 days off with a salary of 4 million VND.
'When I went to the interview, I was asked by that side to pay the application and training fee and had an appointment to work the next day. However, after paying the money, I did not receive the work schedule as committed, the recruitment account contacting me was also colorful'', Ms. Hong shared.
Need to raise vigilance with online recruitment
In 2024, online scams caused a loss of up to VND18,900 billion to Vietnamese users. Hundreds of thousands of victims fell into the trap, but the ability to recover money was very low when only 45.69% reported to the authorities, while 88.98% stopped at sharing with relatives and friends.
Faced with this situation, Mr. Vu Quang Thanh - Deputy Director of the Hanoi Employment Service Center said that scams are becoming more and more sophisticated, targeting the psychology of many young people who want to get jobs quickly.
"We recommend that students, workers, or those who want to go abroad to work, ... need to choose reputable units and facilities. If you do not have the conditions, carefully research the nature of the company's work, recruitment content and be vigilant against recruitment forms via social networks," Mr. Vu Quang Thanh emphasized.
According to him, fair play not only causes workers to lose unfair money but also poses a risk of having their personal data stolen for illegal purposes.
Just one minute of carelessness can have huge consequences, warned the Deputy Director of the Hanoi Employment Service Center.
