According to the report of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs on the situation of labor accidents in 2024, based on the synthesis of reports from 62/63 provinces, cities, there were 8,286 labor accidents nationwide (an increase of 892 cases compared to 2023), causing 8,472 victims (an increase of 919 people), including areas with labor relations and areas where workers work without labor contracts.
The country recorded 675 fatal work accidents, an increase of 13 cases compared to 2023. The total number of deaths is 727 people, an increase of 28 people, while the number of serious injuries is 1,690, a decrease of 30 cases compared to the previous year.
The total damage caused by work-related accidents in 2024 (including treatment, burial, and compensation costs for victims' families and injured people) is estimated at more than VND 42,565 billion, an increase of about VND 26,208 billion compared to 2023.
The areas with the highest risk of fatal labor accidents include: Mining, mineral exploitation, construction, construction material production, mechanics, smelting, services, textiles and footwear.
The localities with the highest number of deaths due to work-related accidents include Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Binh Phuoc, Long An and Thai Binh.
In 2024, the number of fatal work accidents in the work sector without contracts decreased compared to 2023. However, in areas with labor relations, both the number of fatal work accidents and the number of deaths have increased.
The total number of days off due to work-related accidents will reach 154,759, an increase of about 4,989 days compared to 2023.
