At the press conference to announce statistics for the second quarter and the first 6 months of 2025 held on July 5, Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong - Director of the Statistics Office (Ministry of Finance) informed - GDP in the second quarter of 2025 grew positively, with an estimated growth rate of 7.96% over the same period last year, only lower than the growth rate of 8.56% in the second quarter of 2022 in the period 2020-2025.
Of which, the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector increased by 3.89%, contributing 5.19% to the increase in total added value of the entire economy; the industry and construction sector increased by 8.97%, contributing 43.63%; the service sector increased by 8.46%, contributing 51.18%.

"GDP in the first six months of 2025 increased by 7.52% over the same period last year, the highest level in the first six months of the year in the period 2011-2025. In the increase in total added value of the entire economy, the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector increased by 3.84%, contributing 5.59%; the industry and construction sector increased by 8.33%, contributing 42.20%; the service sector increased by 8.14%, contributing 52.21%" - Ms. Huong emphasized.
Regarding the economic structure in the first six months of 2025, the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector accounted for 11.28%; the industry and construction sector accounted for 36.96%; the service sector accounted for 43. 40%; product taxes minus product subsidies accounted for 8.36% (the corresponding structure of the same period in 2024 was 11.49%; 37.0%; 42.98%; 8.53%).
Regarding the use of GDP in the first six months of 2025, final consumption increased by 7.95% over the same period in 2024, contributing 84.20% to the overall growth rate of the entire economy; asset accumulation increased by 7.98%, contributing 40.18%; exports of goods and services increased by 14.17%; imports of goods and services increased by 16.01%.
According to the Statistics Office, agricultural production in the first six months of 2025 maintained growth, met domestic consumption demand and served exports.
Industrial production in the second quarter of 2025 continued to grow positively, the industrial production index is estimated to increase by 10.3% over the same period last year, of which processing and manufacturing industry increased by 12.3%. In the first six months of 2025, the industrial production index is estimated to increase by 9.2% over the same period last year, the highest increase since 2020.
"Our country's socio-economic situation in the second quarter and the first six months of 2025 has achieved very positive results, even despite the set goals in the context of many uncertainties in the world and the region economy" - Ms. Huong assessed.
