On November 1, the Trade Union of Agriculture and Rural Development (NNPTNT) of Nam Dinh province announced the decision to establish and launch the Fisheries Union at the Hai Xuan commune level (Hai Hau district).
In recent times, the Nam Dinh Provincial Federation of Labor has focused on and guided the Provincial Agriculture and Rural Development Trade Union to preside over and coordinate with the Hai Hau District Labor Federation and relevant agencies of Hai Xuan commune to organize propaganda and mobilize fishermen and fishing workers to join the Vietnam Trade Union and establish a grassroots fishing union.
The Hai Xuan Commune Fisheries Union has 125 members who are fishermen and fishing workers in this commune who voluntarily signed the application to join.
Immediately after its establishment, the Mobilization Committee issued a document requesting the Standing Committee of the Provincial Agriculture and Rural Development Trade Union to admit union members, establish the Hai Xuan Commune Fisheries Trade Union and appoint a provisional Executive Committee and Inspection Committee for the Fisheries Trade Union.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Hoang Dinh Trung - Chairman of the Nam Dinh Provincial Federation of Labor - emphasized that the establishment of a grassroots Fisheries Union creates a place for fishermen to live and connect; care for and protect the legitimate rights and interests of fishermen when disputes occur at sea; when unfortunate incidents, risks, and accidents occur; for fishermen to exchange and share fishing and exploitation experiences; comply with the policies, laws and regulations of the State, etc.
The Chairman of the Nam Dinh Provincial Federation of Labor requested the Provincial Federation of Agriculture and Rural Development to immediately begin guiding and directing the Executive Board of the grassroots Fisheries Union to improve the organization and develop operating regulations closely following the functions, tasks and aspirations of union members. At the same time, proactively consult with the Provincial Federation of Labor and the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to coordinate with the Hai Hau District Federation of Labor to take care of union members' lives.
At the ceremony, the Nam Dinh Provincial Federation of Labor presented gifts to 55 fishermen and workers and provided initial support of 10,000,000 VND to the Hai Xuan Commune Fisheries Union.
