In the last days of June, when being selected by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor to be commended as one of the 95 typical families of workers, civil servants, and laborers nationwide in the period 2021-2026 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Vietnamese Family Day (June 28), Mr. Tran Van Thang - Chairman of the grassroots Trade Union, Human Resources Director of Welstory Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Bac Ninh) could not hide his emotion.
For him, this is not only recognition of his personal efforts but also respect for his whole family - a place that is always a solid spiritual support throughout his work and dedication journey.
I feel very honored and proud. This is a motivation for my family to continue to try and strive in life as well as work," Mr. Thang shared.
As Chairman of the grassroots Trade Union of Welstory Vietnam Co., Ltd., for many years he has always devoted his heart to caring for workers. He directly participated in dialogue, negotiation and signing collective labor agreements with many clauses that are more beneficial than the provisions of law.
From 6 types of allowances, many income supplements to 5 welfare regimes for employees are all imbued with the imprint of the process of negotiation and protection of union members' rights. In particular, the company also supports 100% of union dues for all employees with a budget of nearly 500 million VND per year.
Not stopping there, Mr. Thang also actively advises businesses to implement many social responsibility activities. From Mid-Autumn gifts for disadvantaged children at SOS Children's Village in Hanoi, the program to consume 22 tons of Luc Ngan lychees to support farmers, to hundreds of gifts given to students and social protection beneficiaries in Bac Ninh, all have his active contributions.
In the working environment, he is assessed by colleagues as someone who is always proactive in innovating. One of the typical initiatives is researching and proposing to adjust periodic health check-up items to suit the specific characteristics of the industry, helping businesses save about 360 million VND per year while still ensuring full legal regulations and health care rights for employees.
However, what makes many people admire Mr. Thang is not only his success in work but also the way he builds a family home.
Contrary to the traditional view that taking care of children and housework mainly belongs to women, his family chooses sharing and companionship.
Every morning, he directly takes care of his child's personal needs, prepares breakfast and takes him to school. After work hours, he continues to take on bathing, washing clothes, and tutoring him in his studies.
Those seemingly simple jobs have become a bond connecting family members, helping husband and wife understand and share with each other after the pressure of work.
The person accompanying him is Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga, an employee of the Business Planning department of the company. She always completes professional tasks well, actively participates in movements at the business and local level, and at the same time builds a happy family with her husband.
According to Mr. Thang, his wife's understanding and encouragement is the source of energy for him to feel secure in contributing. Conversely, sharing family responsibilities helps Ms. Nga have more time to develop herself and pursue her career.
The story of Mr. Thang's family reflects the increasingly clear image of workers' families in the new era.
As economic life improves, income becomes more stable, and the care policies of businesses and trade unions become better and better, workers not only aim for the goal of "enough to eat, enough to wear" but also focus on building a cultural, spiritual life and a happy family environment.
There, husband and wife share responsibilities, raise children together, develop careers together and nurture good values for the community. The success of each individual is no longer a single effort but the result of companionship, understanding and love in the family.
For Mr. Tran Van Thang's family, the title "Cultural Family" for many consecutive years or recognition from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor is not only a reward, but also a testament to a sustainable value: When family is a solid support, each worker will have more motivation to rise up, contribute and build an increasingly better life.
