Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu (28 years old, a worker in Nam Dinh) said that Tet bonuses are not only for Tet spending but are mainly for the beginning of the year. Quickly calculating the expenses, Ms. Thu said that it cost over 5 million VND while the Tet bonus was only 4.3 million VND.
"The cost of going to the party is 1 million VND, the cost of the second semester for the two children is 3.5 million VND, the cost of milk and diapers for the youngest child is 1 million VND, not including the living expenses for the whole family" - Ms. Thu listed.
Not only that, for local festivals, every family must support. The amount of money shared by Ms. Thu was not less than 500,000 VND.
According to Ms. Thu, her January salary is 2 million VND lower than other months. The reason is that in January the company gave Tet holiday early from January 25, so Ms. Thu and the company's employees only worked 21 working days.
"Our salary is calculated based on working days, so we have to work for many months to have a high income, each month there are many days off to determine a low salary, and have to spend frugally" - Ms. Thu said.
Sharing more, Ms. Thu said that although there are 9 days off for Tet, the salary is only calculated for 5 days according to regulations, the remaining 4 days are not paid. The number of days off for Tet is calculated based on the basic salary, so it will further affect income.
Female worker Pham Thi Thuan (30 years old, Nam Dinh) said that the simplest pagoda fee at the beginning of the year is 1 million VND.

In addition to tuition fees for children, Ms. Thuan shared that many families often choose January to hold wedding and celebration ceremonies. According to Ms. Thuan, this amount depends on the quantity and level of closeness, at least 1 million VND, at most it can be up to 2.5 million VND.
The female worker added that at the beginning of the year, she made 2 meals to invite her parents and relatives to attend, which cost at least 1.5 million VND. With a Tet bonus of more than 8 million VND, Ms. Thuan spends almost all of it on the beginning of the year and Tet holiday with her husband's salary and Tet bonus.
Although salary is calculated based on output, Ms. Thuan's income has also decreased significantly because the number of working days is small, causing the output to not be high. According to the female worker, her income in January decreased by 2.5 million VND compared to other months.
Not only that, Ms. Thuan's company also announced that January salary will be paid later on February 25 instead of the usual 15. The reason is that with a 9-day Tet holiday, the accounting department needs more time to calculate the salary for employees.
Looking at the income received, both Ms. Thu and Ms. Thuan hope that the upcoming regional minimum wage will continue to be adjusted to increase to at least 6%. If the regional minimum wage increases, the two female workers said it will help increase their salaries for holidays, vacations, and Tet accordingly...
