On the morning of May 19, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour organized the Forum "Trade Union members study and follow Uncle Ho's ideology, ethics, and style to compete in good labor, high productivity, and good income".
At the forum, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc An - Member of the Presidium of the General Confederation, Chairman of the Vietnam Education Union, gave a presentation on the content "Studying and following Uncle Ho to innovate and improve the effectiveness of the emulation movement of the Trade Union organization through organizing and launching the movement "Good labor, high productivity, good income".
Emulation is the strongest tool to create motivation
According to Dr. Nguyen Ngoc An, the Trade Union organization has made great contributions to improving labor productivity in units, agencies, factories, and enterprises through encouraging and supporting workers, improving the quality of resources, creating a positive working environment, and promoting the efforts of each individual union member and worker - which are emulation movements corresponding to each political task, corresponding to each stage, and the development requirements of the country.
In a collective of direct workers, they really need motivation to work.
Emulation is the strongest tool to create motivation. Emulation is the tool to create a working environment with inspiration for the community and of course, created from the inspiration of each individual. Saying that is to help us explain more deeply about the "emulation movement" - a task of the trade union organization, creating and organizing implementation in each specific agency and unit" - Chairman of the Vietnam Education Union assessed.
In the current trend of innovation, workers are concerned and worried about the context of digital transformation, the development of science and technology, artificial intelligence... because it will have a very strong impact on job opportunities. Trade union organizations are also facing challenges in how to implement operations.
According to Dr. Nguyen Ngoc An, emulation movements also need to be changed, so they should be "promoted" and not just "maintained". To "promote", it is necessary to develop effective and appropriate factors and mobilize and supplement factors that are close to the inevitable changes that are and will occur. And the emulation movement that the Vietnam Trade Union is researching to implement in the coming time is: "Good labor, high productivity, good income" is a new, open and completely necessary approach.

Transforming the movement into a new approach
Dr. Nguyen Ngoc An believes that a strongly developing digital society forces individual workers to have changes in working methods, work relationships and personal needs. For a long time, trade unions have effectively implemented emulation movements towards improving labor productivity, such as: "Good labor, creative labor" "Promoting initiatives, technical innovations"... the encompassment of these movements towards the collective, towards the majority is "collective force".
Digital technology today is aimed at strong personalization. Therefore, transforming the movement into a new approach - an individualistic approach, expressed in the criteria: "Workers must be good, labor productivity must be high, and workers' income must be good" is both in line with the requirements of the times, in line with the needs of workers, and urgent for the existence and development of each agency, unit, and business...
Once individual competence is valued in the content of the movement, each individual will promote the core competencies of themselves.
The Chairman of the Vietnam Education Union quoted Uncle Ho's speech at the 2nd National Congress of the Trade Union (February 1961), which included the passage: "Initiative experience is like small streams flowing into big rivers, big rivers flowing into the ocean. Not knowing how to value initiatives and disseminate experience is a waste of the nation.
According to Dr. Nguyen Ngoc An, a sense of improvement, a small initiative, if respected and used, will achieve creativity and efficiency, sometimes bringing unexpected surprises. Following Uncle Ho's thought is that before thinking about the sea, let's unleash the source for small canals to have large rivers. From grassroots trade unions, "small canals" are each direct worker and trade unions must find ways to unlock and create sources for them.
That is to create opportunities for them to firmly master their skills, be proactive in professional labor (good labor); they must identify and measure the level of personal contribution through their own labor productivity, high or low (high productivity); and they must receive worthy rewards for their efforts and striving (good income).
Trade union officials need to think about what workers are expecting, need to say things that workers feel close to, need to do things that workers feel realistic" - Chairman of the Vietnam Education Union said.
