Space of sharing and renewing energy
In an increasingly busy industrial life, workers, especially workers directly at factories and industrial parks, have often felt tired from work and the pressure to make a living. Spending time for entertainment, relaxation, exchange, learning... sometimes becomes a luxury.
Understanding that, the Trade Union of Da Nang High-Tech Park and Industrial Zones (now the Trade Union of Industrial Zones of the City Labor Federation) has implemented the model of "Union Cultural Activity Point", creating a small but meaningful space in the heart of the industrial park.
The space at the living spaces is designed to be cozy and convenient with many functional angles: Book - newspaper reading area, legal propaganda corner, youth check-in area, tea and relaxation area... Not only stopping at material things, the most important thing is the change in the way the Trade Union organization approaches workers, not only protecting rights, but also accompanying and nurturing the spiritual life of union members.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Linh - a worker at Foster Electronics Da Nang Co., Ltd. - shared: "When I come home from work, sometimes I just want to rest. But since the day we had a place to live, my sister and I have been very happy. At noon or free time, we go here to read, relax, and chat. Seeing it is much easier". Those rustic words are also the most valuable recognition of the effectiveness of this model.
Replicating a practical and humane model
Up to this point, Da Nang has had 5 locations deployed at FDI enterprises such as Murata Company, Foster, KeyTronic... and recently the location at My Phuong Food Company Limited (Hoa Vang commune). These locations have all received active support from the City Labor Federation, both in terms of equipment (audiences, newspapers) and development orientation.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trung - Deputy Head of the Industrial Parks Trade Union of the Da Nang City Labor Federation - said: "The goal of the "Union Cultural Activity Points" is to create a practical playground, helping workers relax after work, regenerate labor capacity, thereby improving productivity and long-term attachment to the enterprise".
This also clearly reflects the dual goal of the model: both taking care of workers and contributing to building a stable and humane working environment for sustainable business development.
Initial success is the motivation for the Da Nang Trade Union to continue expanding the model to enterprises with 200 or more employees. However, to maintain it in the long term, it is still necessary to solve the problem of resources, rich living content and especially the support of businesses. A model, no matter how humane, is difficult to sustainable without solidarity.
The "Union Cultural Activity Point" in Da Nang is proving that when workers are cared for both materially and spiritually, work efficiency and labor relations are improved. The success of the model lies not only in the number of books or equipment, but also in each worker feeling shared, listened to, and finding simple joy after work.
In the context of increasingly strong industrial parks across the country, replicating this model is completely necessary. It is not only an investment in people, but also a strategic step to build a corporate culture and improve the quality of trade union activities in the new era.
Starting from a small space, this model is opening up a large approach, where the trade union is not only a " rights defender", but is truly a "companion" with workers both at work and in life.
