According to the Hanoi Employment Service Center, in June 2025, based on a survey and information collection of over 7,700 unemployment benefit application applications at the center, it was shown that: The group of workers aged 25 - 34 and 35 - 54 still accounts for the majority of workers submitting applications for unemployment benefits (the group aged 25 - 34 accounts for 47.4%; the age group aged 35 - 54 accounts for 40.28%).
Some industries are in the process of restructuring and screening personnel, with a high risk of unemployment, in which finance, banking, accounting, and auditing account for 23.62%; information technology, telecommunications have an unemployment rate of 47.24%, a sharp increase compared to May (39.20%). Notably, the unemployment rate in the textile, footwear and dyeing industries accounts for only 4.95%.
In the first 7 months of 2025, in Hanoi, more than 42,300 workers submitted applications for unemployment insurance. The number of people registering for vocational training is 647 people, an increase of 23% over the same period last year.
According to Mr. Vu Quang Thanh - Deputy Director of the Hanoi Employment Service Center, the number of workers receiving unemployment insurance benefits registering to learn a trade is increasing. Regarding the reason, the Hanoi Employment Service Center has informed and propagated about 13 schools and vocational training institutions licensed to provide vocational training to participate in training for unemployment insurance workers. Therefore, workers have more opportunities to choose a career.
At the Hanoi Employment Service Center, the occupations that many workers register to learn are beverage mixing techniques, food processing techniques, and office IT. For other vocational schools and institutions, many workers choose the profession of corporate accounting, car driving, air conditioning and air conditioning techniques, baking techniques, etc.
The leader of the Hanoi Employment Service Center also said that to support unemployed workers to return to the labor market soon, the unit requires staff to increase meetings with groups of workers receiving unemployment insurance to advise, support, and inform about job fairs so that workers know how to participate.
In case they want to learn a new profession to change their career, the staff will advise and introduce training institutions with diverse professions so that they can choose to register depending on their preferences and abilities. The main goal is to help workers find jobs soon to continue participating in the labor market," said Mr. Vu Quang Thanh.
In the second quarter of 2025, the whole city of Hanoi had 23,550 people applying for unemployment insurance policies, double the first quarter of 2025 (11,682 applications). In the first 7 months of 2025, in Hanoi, 42,305 people submitted applications for unemployment insurance, down 9.04% over the same period in 2024.
