- 2029 is not only the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Trade Union organization but also has great significance as a milestone to plan the overall roadmap for the next stage. Therefore, right from the XIV Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union, it is necessary to add the goal towards the 100th anniversary of the Vietnam Trade Union as "sustainable quality of life for workers in the new era" right in the direction of the 2026-2031 term.
The draft report needs to consider adding 3 key tasks: (1) raising awareness and promoting the proactive and positive role of each worker to make life better;
(2) universalizing the concept of properly and well implementing regimes and policies for employees, accompanying the Trade Union organization is a beautiful corporate culture; (3) creating a major change in the image of the Trade Union organization.
Mr. Le Van Quyet - Chairman of the Trade Union of May 19 MTV Co., Ltd. (Department H08, Ministry of Public Security): Trade unions participate in supporting workers to adapt to the impact of artificial intelligence, automation and labor structure transformation.
- The draft Political Report of the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress, term 2026-2031 needs to supplement a more specific assessment of the role of the Trade Union organization in participating in implementing the Party's major policies on: National digital transformation; science and technology development; streamlining the apparatus; private economic development; ensuring social security for workers in the context of job fluctuations.
The draft also needs to supplement the content: Trade unions participate in supporting workers to adapt to the impact of artificial intelligence, automation and labor structure transformation; have mechanisms to support workers who have lost their jobs and changed careers.
At the same time, it is necessary to further emphasize the task of mental health care; preventing psychological pressure in the industrial labor environment; building a cultural, humane, and safe working environment.
Ms. Pham Thi Bich Duyen - Chairwoman of the Trade Union of Quy Nhon University: Strengthening the role of trade unions in the higher education sector
- It is necessary to further emphasize the requirement to strengthen the role of trade unions in the higher education sector because this is an environment facing many pressures of transformation such as university autonomy, quality accreditation, digital transformation, internationalization of education and increasingly high requirements for scientific research and international publications. In that context, the team of lecturers, civil servants and workers not only faces professional pressure but also faces many issues of psychology, income, development opportunities and life balance. Therefore, when mentioning the goal of "comprehensive care for union members and workers", it is necessary to strengthen the role of trade unions in supporting specific labor groups.
For the higher education sector, trade unions not only care about material welfare but also need to promote their role in building a healthy academic environment, supporting the improvement of professional capacity, creating conditions for scientific research, mental health care and supporting adaptation to digital transformation.
Mr. Le Van Binh - Chairman of the grassroots Trade Union of Saitex International Dong Nai Co., Ltd.: Paying attention to building social housing for workers to rent
- The 14th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union, term 2026-2031, has additional policies to build social housing areas for workers to rent, because currently many social housing areas in Dong Nai city still far exceed the income capacity of workers, about 10-12 million VND/month - an income level only enough to cover family life.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, official of Khanh Hoa Trade Union: Supplementing the content of establishing social opinion collaborator groups from the grassroots level
- The draft has clearly shown the direction of innovating propaganda work according to the motto "Fast - Short - Deep - Clear". The draft emphasizes strengthening two-way interaction, putting workers at the center; combining traditional and modern methods; promoting the application of digital technology, artificial intelligence and social networks in propaganda and education of union members.
However, reality shows that the work of grasping public opinion among workers is still limited, especially in the face of information related to the arrangement of the organizational structure, the model of two-level local government or the role of the Trade Union organization on social networks.
Therefore, it is necessary to supplement the content of establishing social opinion collaborators from the grassroots level through appropriate digital platforms, in order to promptly orient information and refute wrong views.
At the same time, it is necessary to strengthen education for union members, workers, civil servants, and laborers on sea and island sovereignty associated with the role of the working class and the Trade Union organization with specific and practical programs.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy - Chairwoman of the Trade Union of Hung Yen University of Technology and Education: Integrating AI to support grassroots trade union officials
- It is necessary to include in the document stronger legal commitments and actions from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor level such as: Supplementing the mechanism "Building special protection facilities and legal risk and employment support funds for grassroots trade union officials"; researching and piloting a model of paying responsibility/salary allowances to grassroots trade union officials through an independent account of the superior trade union, avoiding trade union officials being completely financially dominated by employers.
Regarding digital transformation and artificial intelligence (AI) applications, grassroots officials are having quite a hard time with administrative nghiệp vụ due to the use of many platforms and software. The goal of "100% digitizing data" is correct, but it will create a large burden if there are no smart tools to support it. It is necessary to focus on investing in building a single application platform, interconnected nationwide. This application is not only for data management but must also integrate AI to support grassroots officials in automating reporting and answering laws for workers, helping to release labor force so that trade union officials have time to go deeper and closer to the masses.
Mr. Nong To Hieu - young worker of SEI Electronic Components Company: Hoping the trade union will organize skills classes and vocational training
- Each month I receive a salary of about 12-15 million VND depending on the overtime time. But if I only do the job repeatedly, it is very difficult to go far. I want to learn more skills to have the opportunity to develop.
In the context of the upcoming 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress, I expect grassroots trade unions to have more practical activities for young workers. I hope the trade union will organize skills classes, vocational training or connect with businesses so that workers can learn advanced skills. Only with a profession can there be a stable future.
