Thanks to the Union, union members have a warm home at the end of the year
On the days before the Lunar New Year 2025, a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper in Hoa Binh had the opportunity to visit the new house of Mr. Vi Van Duoc - an employee of Toyota Hoa Binh Joint Stock Company. In the new house that still smelled of plaster, unable to hide his emotions, Mr. Duoc said that his family was in difficult circumstances, his parents were no longer able to work, and he was the main breadwinner. Previously, his family lived in a wooden house that was degraded due to termites and was not safe.
Mr. Duoc's new house has an area of 70 square meters and was built with a total value of more than 220 million VND, of which the "Union Shelter" fund supported by the Vietnam Civil Servants' Trade Union with 60 million VND, the remaining amount was contributed by his family and borrowed from the Social Policy Bank.
“With the support of the Union, celebrating Tet in a new, spacious and clean house is a great happiness. This is the motivation for me to continue to strive to work hard and stay with the Union organization for a long time” - Mr. Duoc shared.
Having worked for many years at the Commune People's Committee, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hang (a member of the grassroots union of Thinh Minh Commune, Hoa Binh City) has always dreamed of a small house for her family. Ms. Hang confided that before, her family of four lived in a dilapidated level 4 house, built in 2005.
In July 2024, her family received 60 million VND from the Labor Federation of 6 Northwestern provinces from the "Union Shelter" Fund. From the support money along with the money borrowed and helped by friends, colleagues, and relatives, by November 2024, her family's new level 4 house, more than 70 square meters wide, was completed, with a total cost of nearly 300 million VND. "All levels of the Labor Union have joined hands to help and support my family to complete the house" - Ms. Hang said.
In the sweet cold of the changing weather to say goodbye to the old year and welcome the new year, joy and warmth spread throughout the Northwest. In the houses named “Union Shelter”, that happiness was multiplied when the wishes of many poor and unlucky union members became reality.
Happy and complete Tet holiday of family reunion
In the last days of the year, many union members and workers in Hai Duong province received financial support to build and repair "Union Shelter" houses from the Social Fund of Hai Duong Provincial Labor Federation.
Coming from Thanh Hoa to Hai Duong to work, Ms. Luong Thi Mai (31 years old) - a union member of Brother CN Company Limited (Hai Duong province) met and married her husband while working at the same company. The marriage was short-lived, the couple separated, and Ms. Mai raised her two children alone. Due to difficult economic conditions, Ms. Mai and her children had to live in a cramped level 4 house.
Receiving financial support of 30 million VND to build a house called “Trade Union Shelter” before the Lunar New Year of At Ty, Ms. Luong Thi Mai could not hide her happiness, because finally her dream of settling down could come true. This year’s Tet is probably the happiest and most fulfilling Tet for Ms. Mai and her children.
On the eve of Lunar New Year, the Hai Duong Provincial Federation of Labor donated 50 million VND to build a “Union Shelter” house for union member Le Thi Huyen, who is in difficult circumstances in Phu Thai town (Kim Thanh district). Ms. Huyen is working at Phuc Thanh Kindergarten. Her husband passed away early, leaving her alone to raise her two children. Due to difficult economic conditions, her family still lives in a seriously degraded level 4 house.
Receiving support from the Hai Duong Provincial Federation of Labor, Ms. Le Thi Huyen said that the attention of the Trade Union organization is a great motivation for her to feel secure in her work.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Thuan - Permanent Vice President of the Hoa Binh Provincial Federation of Labor - said that the Union's support for building the Union Shelter is very practical, helping workers with housing difficulties to have stable living conditions. From there, it encourages union members and workers to feel secure in their work and be more closely attached to the Union organization.
