Rushing into danger to save people, receiving pain for himself
More than 20 days after the falling tree crushed her after saving 2 students, Ms. Luong Thi Tinh (born in 1979, urban environment worker in Nghia Lo ward) is still being treated and recovering her health at General Hospital No. 3, Lao Cai province. Previously, she had undergone many surgeries at Viet Duc Friendship Hospital (Hanoi).
On the hospital bed, recalling the afternoon of March 29, the female worker was still in shock. That day, while on her way back because she saw thunderstorms coming fiercely, she discovered two students being crushed by a large broken tree branch, falling in the middle of the road. Without thinking, she rushed to rescue the children.
I just thought at that time I had to pull the branch out quickly so that the children could escape danger. But while supporting, another branch suddenly broke and fell on me" - Ms. Tinh recounted.
The impact caused the female environmental worker to be seriously injured in the face, abdomen, pelvis and small intestine and was taken to the hospital for emergency treatment in critical condition. Between the life-and-death boundary, Ms. Tinh chose the dangerous part for herself. In return, the two students were saved in the nick of time.
What makes many people more touched is that that woman has carried on her shoulders so much hardship in making a living. Her husband died early, for the past 10 years, she has raised two children alone, both as a father and a mother. With an environmental worker salary of about 5 million VND/month, she also takes advantage of cleaning the house for rent to earn extra money to cover living expenses.
Life is already full of hardships, and unexpected accidents make the family even more struggling. Sitting next to her mother in the hospital, Luong Thi Diep could not hide her emotion: "I love my mother very much. Seeing my mother undergo surgery, so painful, I feel very sorry. But I am also very proud that my mother saved people.
A gesture that ignites faith, many hands joined together
Ms. Tinh's selfless act of saving people not only touched the community but also received recognition from the local government. Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee awarded a surprise Certificate of Merit; Nghia Lo Ward People's Committee awarded a Certificate of Merit to honor the noble gesture of female environmental workers.
According to Mr. Mai Tien Dung - Chairman of Nghia Lo Ward People's Committee, immediately after grasping Ms. Tinh's situation, the locality promptly visited and mobilized organizations and philanthropists to join hands to support. "Ms. Tinh's action to save people in the storm is a very respectable gesture, spreading human values in the community" - Mr. Dung shared.
Not only has there been recognition, in recent days, Ms. Tinh has also received the attention of the Fatherland Front, the Women's Union, the Red Cross Society, the Trade Union organization and many kind hearts.
On the hospital bed, the woman who once faced the line of life and death many times choked up when mentioning those sharing. "During the treatment process, I received a lot of care and help, especially from the Trade Union organization. That is a great source of encouragement for me and my family. I can only say my sincere thanks" - she said emotionally.
What makes many people respect Ms. Tinh is not only her courageous action in a dangerous moment, but also because she is inherently a person of kindness.

"Her life was already difficult, now the treatment process is still very long. The Trade Union is continuing to call on union members, organizations, individuals, and philanthropists to join hands to support her to overcome the dangerous period" - Ms. Anh shared.
