Good benefits help workers stick with the Union
Recently, many enterprises in Vinh Long have not only focused on productivity but also prioritized improving welfare to retain workers and increase solidarity with the Trade Union.
As at Mega Surplus Vietnam Shoes Co., Ltd., the regimes and policies for employees are fully implemented. Mr. Truong Hoang Huynh - Chairman of the Trade Union said that workers are entitled to special needs support, travel allowances and monthly food allowances.
In particular, female workers are given 30 minutes off per day during their menstrual period and 60 minutes off to express milk when raising young children, all of which are paid according to the contract.
Mr. Huynh said that the Union coordinated with the Board of Directors to visit and give gifts to 7-8 union member families each month. Thanks to practical policies, since the beginning of the year, 98 new union members have been developed.

Worker Le Thi Kim Thuy, who has worked in many businesses, shared that the benefits at My Phong leather shoe company help her feel more secure about her finances and the conditions to take care of her family.
Ms. Thuy added that the Union supported scholarships, assists in case of illness or need and supported the construction of a Union Shelter, creating motivation for her to stick with and become a union member for more than a year.
This concern helps workers trust and voluntarily introduce colleagues to participate, contributing to increasing the number of union members at the enterprise, said Ms. Thuy.
Expanding trade unions, caring for workers' rights
At Hai Long Mekong Company Limited, the grassroots trade union has just been established with 190 union members, creating a support for workers in non-state enterprises.
Trade Union President Nguyen Thi Thuy Tien said that the establishment of the Trade Union comes from the need for legal representation of workers, especially when disputes over income or benefits arise.
Ms. Tien said that the Trade Union will coordinate with enterprises to build appropriate policies, regularly dialogue and promptly handle recommendations to stabilize labor relations.
"The formation of the grassroots trade union has received support from workers and business owners, showing a positive awareness of the role of the trade union," said Ms. Tien.

Mr. Nguyen Phuc Linh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Chairman of the Provincial Federation of Labor said that the province currently has 632 grassroots unions with 165,123 union members/183,000 workers, an increase of 84 grassroots unions and 20,989 union members after the merger.
Since the beginning of the year, grassroots trade unions have admitted a large number of new union members, reaching about 80% of the target, demonstrating efforts in expanding the organization and increasing resources.
The Provincial Federation of Labor continues to implement a union member welfare model, promote collective bargaining and enhance labor agreements to increase benefits and attract workers.
Along with that, the support for establishing trade unions in new enterprises has been accelerated, especially for units with a large number of young workers, helping to expand the network of representatives.
These results contribute to building harmonious labor relations and affirming the role of Vinh Long Labor Union in caring for workers, said Mr. Linh.
