Ha Hoa district is the locality that suffered the most damage due to the impact of storm No. 3 in Phu Tho province. According to preliminary statistics, there were 2 deaths, 1 injured; more than 4,300 households had to evacuate due to flooding and landslides; damage to educational infrastructure, transportation, irrigation and damage to agriculture and livestock was very large... It is estimated that the total value of damage in Ha Hoa district is more than 143 billion VND.
In Dan Thuong commune, a commune located along the Thao River (Red River) of Ha Hoa district, Dan Thuong 1 Primary School suffered a lot of damage, with all 2 rows of classrooms, the office and the school yard flooded, causing 120 sets of student desks and chairs, 1 set of office desks and chairs, 20 teacher desks, 1 podium... to be damaged.
Here, after listening to the report on the damage to Dan Thuong 1 Primary School, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Ngo Duy Hieu shared the difficulties that teachers and students of the school are suffering due to storm No. 3.
“These days, teachers have been working very hard because they have to do more work like sanitation workers, cleaning everywhere to welcome students back to school soon. As for students, from what they have experienced, I hope that the first lesson when they return to school will be a lesson on environmental protection, so that they can form awareness and early recognition of the necessity of environmental protection for their future,” the Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor shared.
Here, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Ngo Duy Hieu presented 30 million VND in support to Dan Thuong 1 Primary School to overcome the consequences of floods.
Touched by the timely and valuable support from the Union, the Board of Directors of Dan Thuong 1 Primary School expressed that in the coming time, teachers and students of the school will strive to overcome difficulties and gradually improve teaching and learning achievements.
On the other side of the river, it took a long journey through mud for the working group to reach the house of teacher Nguyen Thi Nhu (born in 1975) - a member of the Dong Lam Primary School Union (Hien Luong Commune). Because, the dilapidated house built with bricks, assembled wooden planks and roofed with fibro cement of teacher Nhu is located on the bank of the Red River in Zone 3, Hien Luong Commune.
Teacher Nhu's situation is very difficult, her old and weak mother often goes to the hospital, her husband is in poor health, her children are still of school age. The recent storm No. 3 caused severe flooding, causing heavy damage to teacher Nhu's family's rice, crops and livestock, even the furniture in the house was no longer intact...
Hearing about teacher Nhu's situation, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Ngo Duy Hieu shared her difficulties and encouraged her and her family to overcome adversity and stabilize their work and life soon.
Presenting the gift to Ms. Nhu, the Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor affirmed: "The union will always care for the lives of union members and workers, especially those in difficult circumstances. Union members need to actively coordinate with local authorities and functional agencies to quickly overcome the consequences caused by storms and floods."
After visiting and presenting gifts to union members and workers in Ha Hoa district, on the afternoon of September 14, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Ngo Duy Hieu and the delegation presented 500 million VND in support to the Phu Tho Provincial Fatherland Front Committee to support Phu Tho in overcoming the consequences of storm No. 3.
Responding to the call of General Secretary and President To Lam and the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to mobilize support for people to overcome the damage caused by storm No. 3, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has issued a document on Mobilizing support for people affected by storms and floods. The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor calls on and mobilizes civil servants, public employees, union members, and workers to uphold the spirit of solidarity, "mutual love" and actively participate in supporting, sharing, and helping people in material and spiritual terms who are facing difficulties due to the impact of storms and floods to contribute to the Party and State to quickly restore production and stabilize people's lives.
