As of noon on November 24, the People's Committee of Hoa Thinh commune, Dak Lak (under the old Phu Yen province) recorded 25 deaths, and no missing cases have been discovered.

Floods also caused severe damage to property, houses, food and infrastructure, with a total estimated value of more than 563.5 billion VND.

Secretary of the Hoa Thinh Commune Party Committee Phuong Van Lanh assessed that this was the most serious natural disaster in many years, causing widespread losses in all villages and hamlets of the commune.

Preliminary statistics show that the whole commune had 4,820/8,255 houses completely flooded; the property inside was severely damaged, with estimated damage of about 482 billion VND. In addition, 24 houses were completely collapsed, causing damage of about 7.2 billion VND.

Many schools were seriously affected. In particular, the fence of schools in the area collapsed with a total length of about 520m; many equipment and machinery at Hoa Thinh Primary School and Hoa Dong Primary School were damaged by deep flooding in floodwater.

The flood caused flooding, sweeping away about 3,000 tons of food from the people, causing an estimated loss of about 24 billion VND. Livestock was also severely affected when 65 cows died, with an estimated loss of about 2 billion VND.

The rural transportation system, irrigation canals and some local headquarters are damaged and landslides, and are currently being inventoried to assess the extent of damage.

Faced with the serious consequences of floods, the People's Committee of Hoa Thinh commune has requested the province and volunteer organizations to urgently support people with essential necessities such as rice, drinking water, disinfectants, household items, etc.

Local authorities are urgently completing damage statistics and developing appropriate support plans for each group of households. At the same time, the commune continues to request units, organizations and individuals to continue to accompany to help people soon stabilize their lives after natural disasters.
