National Highway 24 through Mang Den Commune, Quang Ngai Province continues to collapse

Quang Ngai - Heavy rain caused National Highway 24 through Mang Den to continue to collapse, causing congestion. The authorities urgently opened a temporary road.

On the afternoon of November 24, Mr. Tran Kim Tuan - Head of the Business Department, Kon Tum Traffic Construction and Management Joint Stock Company - said that currently, at Km112+100 to Km112+200 on National Highway 24, through Mang Den commune, Quang Ngai province, landslides continue to occur, with a volume of about 1,500m3 of rock and soil spilling onto the road. The unit is making efforts to handle the situation to temporarily clear the route for traffic.

Immediately after the landslide occurred on the morning of November 24, Kon Tum Traffic Construction and Management Joint Stock Company quickly arranged 4 excavators, 6-8 cars, divided into many teams to urgently clear the route, one end down to the end of the route and one end down to the beginning of the route for construction.

However, due to the rainy weather, there was mud at the dumping sites, making it impossible to bring vehicles deep for construction. In addition, prolonged rain continues to increase the risk of landslides, which can cause traffic congestion again. Due to the limited route, mobilizing more vehicles and machinery to the route is also facing many difficulties.

The unit has coordinated with local authorities to discuss a plan for temporary traffic on Provincial Road 676, following Truong Son Dong Road and reaching Km94 of National Highway 24. This route is about 30km further than the old National Highway 24.

"We will arrange enough human and material resources to handle the landslide location; at the same time, traffic will be diverted to ensure the safety of vehicles," said Mr. Tran Kim Tuan.

As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, on the morning of November 23, at Km112+100 to Km112+200 on National Highway 24, through Mang Den Commune, Quang Ngai Province, a serious landslide occurred, with a volume of rock and soil spilling onto the road about 2,800m3. Although the authorities promptly handled and temporarily cleared the route at noon on November 23, by the morning of November 24, rocks and soil continued to slide down, causing traffic congestion.
