Lecturers of Vietnam - Korea - Quang Ngai College are owed salaries and overtime teaching fees of more than 7.3 billion VND, causing many difficulties in life.

Debt lasting for decades

Mr. Vo Dinh Ta - Principal of Vietnam - Korea - Quang Ngai College - said that the total amount of salary and overtime teaching debt of the school until March 2026 is over 7.3 billion VND. Of which, salary debt is nearly 3.8 billion VND (including February 2026 and March 2026).

Overtime teaching fee debt is over 3.5 billion VND. Overtime teaching fee debt from the 2015 to 2018 school years is over 534 million VND.

Overtime debt for the 2023 - 2024 school year is over 1.6 billion VND. Overtime debt for the 2024 - 2025 school year is over 1.3 billion VND.

The situation of overtime debt for lecturers has lasted from the 2015-2016 school year to now.

According to Mr. Vo Dinh Ta, in the coming time, to ensure the payment of salaries and overtime teaching fees for lecturers and employees and stabilize operations, the school has rebuilt its financial autonomy plan.

Request to transfer from group 2 public non-business unit type to group 3 unit type (from self-guaranteed regular expenditure unit to self-guaranteed part of regular expenditure unit type) to submit to competent authorities for consideration and settlement.

At the same time, the school has developed a project to rearrange the internal organizational structure to streamline the organizational structure, restructure the staff and employees to improve the operational efficiency of the school, and submit it to competent authorities for consideration and comments.

The school will also implement synchronous solutions in personnel management, enrollment, training... to improve operational efficiency.

Mr. Vo Dinh Ta said that the school is continuing to find effective solutions to overcome financial difficulties. In case the school does not have a source to pay salaries in the period from February 2026 to July 2026, it will continue to report and propose to the Provincial People's Committee to study, consider, and support to ensure minimum benefits for officials and employees.

Still have to wait

Mr. Nguyen Duc Thanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Finance - informed that currently, the Department of Finance has sent a report to the Provincial People's Committee on the proposal to adjust the level of financial autonomy of Vietnam - Korea - Quang Ngai College.

However, this adjustment does not have a basis for immediate implementation because it must ensure correspondence with the assigned staffing targets of the province, and must closely follow the roadmap in Plan No. 62/KH-UBND dated October 20, 2025 of the Provincial People's Committee on arranging public service units, state-owned enterprises and affiliated focal points.

To remove difficulties and improve operational efficiency, Vietnam - Korea - Quang Ngai College has proactively developed a project to rearrange the internal apparatus. The goal of the Project is to optimize existing resources, streamline the apparatus to cut unnecessary regular costs, thereby creating stable resources for teaching activities.

In the near future, immediately after receiving approval from competent authorities, the Department of Finance will coordinate with relevant units to advise the Provincial People's Committee on a plan to definitively handle obstacles according to current regulations.

Vietnam - Korea - Quang Ngai College was established by the Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (former) according to Decision No. 1963/QD-LDTBXH dated December 20, 2013. This is a public vocational education institution, operating under the model of a public vocational college, belonging to the national education system, is a revenue-generating non-business unit, directly under the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province.
