On May 6, the Provincial Steering Committee for the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Hygiene (CPHA) coordinated with the Soc Trang Provincial Federation of Labor to organize the Launching Ceremony of Workers' Month and Month of Action on PCHA in 2025.
Attending were Ms. Ho Thi Cam Dao - Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Mr. Ngo Hung - Member of the Provincial Standing Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; Mr. Nguyen Van Khoi - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Son - Chairman of Soc Trang Labor Federation, along with representatives of departments, agencies, businesses and workers in the province.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Khoi - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - emphasized that the annual organization of workers' months and the month of action on OSH in May is important in propagating and raising awareness and responsibility of all levels, sectors, businesses and production and business establishments on occupational safety and sanitation. This is also an opportunity to show the attention and practical care to the lives and health of workers (employees) through specific actions such as proactive preventing labor accidents, occupational diseases, creating a safe working environment.
Mr. Khoi informed that in recent years, the provincial Trade Union levels have actively coordinated with functional agencies and employers to implement many practical activities to raise awareness of OSH and health for employees. Activities such as communication information, OSH training focus on practice; visiting and giving gifts to union members, occupational diseases; supporting trade union houses; Supervise the implementation of labor policies on labor and participate in quality and food safety management at collective kitchens.
At the ceremony, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee called on departments, branches, sectors and localities to strengthen propaganda and dissemination of legal knowledge on occupational safety and health in accordance with each field and profession, risk prevention measures, rights and obligations of employees, employers, and related policies.
Requesting businesses to focus on implementing self-inspection, proactively preventing dangerous and harmful factors and enhancing occupational safety and hygiene training for employees. For employees, it is necessary to proactively equip themselves with knowledge and skills to identify risks and work safely to protect themselves and their colleagues.
On this occasion, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province presented certificates of merit to 93 individuals who are union members working at enterprises with outstanding achievements in the Good Labor and Creative Labor movement in the period of 2023 - 2024.
The Provincial Federation of Labor also donated 22 Trade Union Shelters to union members with difficult housing circumstances.
Giving gifts to 100 union members and workers in difficult circumstances. Awarded scholarships to 50 students who are children of union members and ethnic minority workers in difficult circumstances who are working at enterprises.
These are meaningful activities, demonstrating the deep concern of the Party, State, Trade Union organizations and benefactors for workers in Soc Trang province.
